My 980ti is starting to struggle with vr with super sampling over 1.5 and with the 1080ti being >70% faster I have the upgrade itch. Hopefully x2.0 super sampling it do able with out retrojection. Anyone else got the itch?

VR is the only thing that's tempting me. I can run 90% of titles on normal desktop in sli mode but theres nothing really in vr that is supported. If only sli support was stronger. :(

I am thinking of it too. I'm looking to replace my R9 290, and Vega just seems to be taking too long. Despite the money involved, I'm sorely tempted by something which gives a 'wow' upgrade.

Thought about 1 for myself gaming at 1440 as my 970 is struggling a bit. However a 1080ti seems like overkill but a 1070 will be fine.

The missus has a 1070 in her machine with the VR set up though <grows beard> <strokes beard>

A 1080 ti from a 290 would be a huge upgrade, if you don't have Freesync then you should just do it :-)

I'll probably get one as an upgrade from the 970 after the hype dies down and prices settle a bit, did that with the 970 and saved myself about £100 by waiting 3 months. Would future proof me for another 3-4 years i reckon.

I have a 980ti which runs all my games at 1440p without any issues however I must admit it pains me to see when it struggles in VR.. Should the 1080ti allow supersampling to be upped to 2.0 I will sell the 980ti and upgrade

I'm looking forward to seeing what the Asus Strix 1080ti is going to be priced at, or in fact, any 3rd party that has two HDMI ports. Very useful for me with the ViVE. I'll probably hold off getting a FE if the 3rd party cards are going to drop in the next month.

For some reason... I am very tempted.

Even the 1070 struggles, and okay the Vive has some reprojection magic now, but honestly having even 1.5 SS and seeing the slightly judder makes me really really want something better. Especially when I get the feeling more graphically intensive stuff is about to come out.

The jump to the 1080 was still quite a lot right? Maybe I will be 'smart' and not spend quite so much money.

Gotta admit the 1080ti is tempting from my Fury X, but going to wait and see what AMD can bring with Vega and maybe Volta.

At this point, 2nd gen headsets are a year or so away, and I need a GPU work with them. The guess is 4k @ 120hz or thereabouts, which the ti isn't quite hitting yet (with render targets).

This is a really valid point

Been checking out my friends Ti this afternoon, mainly tweaking project cars in vr..
Settings can be cranked up way above what my 1070 can do and the image quality is a big step up.
We were using 1.2 SS, ds4, 2xAA and a mix of high and medium settings. Very smooth with no sudden sickness from frame drop. Steam VR reprojection might have helped there though.
I suppose i better test would be funhouse, arizona sunshine and some oculus titles to see even better results.

Upgraded at the weekend to a ti and there is a definite improvement in image quality and speed from the first generation Titan what I was running before.

Definitely once all the boards are out and the benchmarks are in. Elite Dangerous on the Vive is barely playable on a 970 compared to a 1080, so a 1080ti should be smashing the 970 out the park.
