Sounds like the main thing people want from a 1080Ti is supersampling, but isn't supersampling from SteamVR broke now?

I remember lots of people complaining about supersampling giving worse picture quality than 1.0 not too long ago?

I'm going to wait and see what the performance of Vega is like. I may be tempted to get a 1080ti though. I'd mainly use it for ED on my Vive.

Hopefully my CPU wouldn't represent a bottleneck.

Sorry for the thread bump, but I thought it was better than starting a new one as it’s (kind of) relevant.
My current PC is a r9-290 and a fx8350, it’s on the low side for VR gaming but it serves me well.

Just how bad would the bottleneck be in VR if I put a 1080ti in the there to pair with my fx8350?

I never had an issue with any game I tried in VR (rift) on an FX8350 when running a 1080 and then later a 1080TI ;)

I upgraded from a 980ti to a 1080ti. I was using 1.5ss with the 980ti and I have to admit that at 2.0ss on the 1080ti it’s not a massive step forward in terms of visual clarity. I do find a lot less micro stutter/freezing so it’s generally a lot smoother. I got the 1080ti in preparation for the Pimax 8k I’ve got coming. That should improve things significantly.

Short summary, yes there is improvement, but it’s not as impressive as I was expecting due to limitations of the headset screens.
