Anyone getting a Zune for Christmas....

I own a iRiver U10 and I love it.

So easy to use and to get on with.

Had iPods in the past, got nothing against them.. But I hate having to use iTunes.

Simple Drag and Drop in Windows Explorer, ***.

iaudio for mp3
psp for portable video

I have a Cowon A2, same people who make iAudio, fantastic bit of kit. Battery life much superior to ipod, beautiful widescreen for video and music sounds good. only drawback is the size, not the kind of thing you can run around with.

You don't have to use iTunes, I have always used XPlay which allows you to simply drag and drop on to your iPod.

Poor old Windows, can't do anything right.

By "Poor old Windows" I guess you mean Microsoft, yeah only £1.8bn profit this quarter ;)

Let me see what about Xbox 360 and the upcoming launch of Vista and Office 2007, yeah really on the ropes!

The first company to get a good, touchscreen player will have a strong advantage.

That or a player with fingerprints all over the screen (sounds great as a concept but not very good for the real world)

The IPOD has a very dominent market position, they leverage their Itunes marketplace, they are the king at the moment but surely why shouldn't somebody try and better them. I'm not sure anybody will be able to do this with the first product out of the door, the IPOD is 5th generartion now!

My brother has a Creative MP3 player. He keeps breaking it. I have never broken my precious iPod.;)

In my direct family, we've had 4 (out of 5) Creative players die :(. No problems so far with my lovely iPod.

Pods muct have got more reliable in the last generation then, having said that there are a lot less "my Ipod died today , whats wrong with it?" threads around...

Shame iPods and iTunes suck massive wang. iAudio and iRivers have been better for years - so many better options available now no one should be buying the Metrosexual iPods or Zunes.

That, I think, is because people have started to wise up about how to reset an ipod. I'd say at least a 3rd of all ipods that I've seen come in 'faulty' have just needed a reset.

i was looking at them to buy but they seem to big for my liking.

still can't beat my PSP..

I can stream music to my PSP and using Itrip send it to my hifi.

I can play games, watch movies, listen to music and browse the net with my PSP.

Yet to see anything that comes close to PSP for interoperability.

I'm not surprised Zune is a failure but MS will crack the market as it has all the money in the world to do so.

Also the ease in which you can remove the DRM off of itunes music means it's just an irritation rather than a deterrant.

Its laughable that anybody expects even a neutral review on this, let alone a postive one. They have released the Zune into a world FULL of apple Fanboys.
Most people here could give you 10 good reasons why they own an iPod. Unfortunately, the rest of the world will tell you " cos its shiny ". They are the sorts of people writing these reviews in most cases.

I will say this: Give the Zune 6 months. The amount of time and Money that went into the 360 is unparalleled. I can only imagine it being the same for this.
I have read ACTUAL USER ACCOUNTS of the Zune and they have all said the same thing. The Hardware is first class but the software sucks ass. Well, the software can be patched, and it wont take long before all the software kinks are ironed out.

Then there is future functionality updates. The Zune has a 400mhz processor, 64mb of ram, Wifi and a 30gn hard drive. The potential is endless for the cracking community to make something fantastic, or for MS to do the same.

Its just too easy to hate MS these days. I'd rather stay off that bandwagon tbh and form a decision for myself.

As for Touch Screen. Im not sure thats going to be such a great thing. Fingerprints, scratches etc. How weak is a PDA touch screen? Very. How easy is it to give a touch screen the level of protection a current iPods screen has?

looks all a bit chunkey, and the stupid restrictions on it kill pretty much any good bits of it - however the fact that its going to get hacked to hell and back might (and i mean MIGHT) turn out to be a decent device... but till that happens i'm staying well clear!

Who ever mentioned the 360 is dead right. I mean Microsoft have put themselves in pole position for this generation of console gaming. They have no doubt lost a lot of money but look how much market share they have bought?
For gods sake have Microsoft ever had the better product/service? Who knows but one thing is for certain they always roll the competition through brute force and ignorance. ie questionable business ethics and hostile take overs. As much as people may hate them you have to admit Microsoft learn fast. Just look at the leap between the two XBOXs and from windows 98 to windows 2000 and from XP to Vista, and Zune to ....
