Three most common responses fanboys use to deflect any criticism of AMD based cards:

1> It's your PSU.
2> PEBKAC
3> I've never had a single issue therefore you are wrong.

:p

You really need to have experience of using both cards to get a proper picture as fanboys will lead you down the garden path.

So in a thread other day a guy had corsair 850hx his pc was black screening. Now I have had this issue first hand and used same psu.
What you think the issue was?

LOL, I love you.

I am having problem after problem with my AMD cards and simple expressing this. Of course am going to be annoyed after almost paying 1 grand in cards that cant even run stable.

If you have a fix, please do share.

Your best bet is to get a 780TI.

Give the OP a break, he probably didn't know that was wasn't allowed to make a negative post about AMD.
Sorry OP, not the way it works on the forums, you're either pro-AMD or you get lynched and accused of trolling..

Not true. That is simply a myth that is being perpetuated by posts like yours.

To answer the OPs question. No i'm loving my 290s. Blazing fast and fun overclockers at a nice price. You clearly aren't looking for assistance, you just decided to start a thread telling everyone you don't like the 290 series.

That's grand mate enjoy your 780 :)

This thread is going to end up in the gutter. I'm not going there with it so i'm out ;)

I've made around 5-6 threads asking for help with the countless issues I've had with these cards and most go without fixing the problem. Can't even RMA the cards. Clearly you are mistaken and must do your own research before posting :)

As long as I dont get any of the driver problems with same/slighty better FPS I'd be more than happy.

A 780Ti isn't going to give you comparable framerates to two 290Xs.
It sounds like you've already made up your mind, so just sell 'em and go 780Ti.

Can I get a admin to close this thread and delete it?

Clearly has turned into something I wanted to avoid!

Thank you.

You've rustled a nest of enthusiastic bargain hunters who've clearly taken umbrage at your bad experience. :D

Ask the old timers. 90% of us who've been doing this a awhile will toot a different tale to the others.

That said most have not experienced your level of issues with the 290. The artifacts suggest at least one of your cards are faulty, before you go anywhere.

Right OK was these cards bought from ocuk? If so and they said nothing wrong with them then that's means something else is the issue here.

You said you get blue screen this means a hardware issue with your system so I would start testing ram etc
Driver crashing can be again bad ram or not enough voltage but you running stock so could mean ram.

Not sure if he is trolling or not, but go read some of his post history. There is definitely a problem with his windows install and/or his motherboard.

And to add to that, his cards have been overclocked and if you read his posts, I wonder what damage he did to them as he really doesn't seem to know what he doing.

Matt and others have tried to help him several times.

You claim you bought one card from Gumtree? Can you remove the card that you originally had that you RMA'd and try the other card on it's own. See if that gives you the same issue.

That would be my first step in trouble shooting, try both cards on their own first. See do they both work ok. Then try them both in the other PCIe slot on your motherboard and see do they still work ok.

Then try them both together.

But, if I was you, after reading through some of your other problems, I would backup all my stuff, format my C: drive and do a completely clean windows install. And I also think I would run a memtest.

How come when someone is frustrated with there hardware other than gpu's people have nothing but sympathy and will help as much as they can, but as soon as it involves amd or nvidia the thread turns into a shambles and full of attacks.

To the OP you have obviously had enough so sell up and get a 780Ti, there fantastic ;)

Fair enough, but that's no reason to have a go, just don't post if you feel he's not listening to you. If he is trolling, posting in the thread is just feeding the troll. If you know he's trolling and you still rise to it then it seems like you're purposely trying to turn the thread into an argument.

Would it also be frowned upon as trying to troll Nvidia users if he had stated that after fixing his cards he now thought they were great and was really pleased he bought them? Or would the same people be in here joining in with him instead of calling him a troll?

EDIT: When I say 'you' I don't mean you specifically! :)

Do you have ref TIs Boom? I'm curious as to what temps you get with your cards at stock and with that OC profile :)

Yeah both ref MSI 780Ti's. Temps are good, around 28c idle, load temps vary i.e during gaming as a lot of the time the cards don't need to clock very high to maintain 60fps, so temps will be low 70's, I game with V-Sync on. 80c under a max load (benching etc), that's with two cards with max turbo @ 1219mhz.

I've used Nvidia cards for the last couple of generations and recently moved to AMD partly due to price, partly due to everyone here singing their praises so much and part out of curiosity. While I'd say my performance is probably 5-10% less than I would expect for 290CF I can't really say I've had a problem with the drivers. A couple of install issues with the beta drivers and certificates, but other than that nothing worth mentioning. I do prefer Nvidia's control panel, but that's probably due to familiarity.
Both companies have periods of good and bad drivers, I haven't noticed one being worse than the other.

Awesome post. I like this guy.
