So has anyone got one imported yet or looking at getting one imported?

First thoughts on them?

Thanks Luke

I don't own one but I have played on one. They are fantastic pieces of kit, really well built and the screen is brilliant.

I wouldnt mind getting one myself tbh. If the price is right & once ive had a go on one before hand, to see what it 'feels' like.

Dunno if it does come with the thumbstrap though tbh I havent used mine since I first got it.

I've got a Navy one on pre order (as they aint out till the 11th) but I imagine im about to feel how people with 360 pre orders did when they realised they wasnt getting one at launch!

As the chances of the company i've got it on order with getting hold of them for the actual RRP are pretty much none. Gonna be 2-4 weeks i'd imagine before i'll see it :(

Heres a couple of pictures which might give you a chuckle

XBOX 360 Japan Launch

Nintendo DS Lite Launch

For an 18 month old console redesign  and people thought nintendo was dead ;)

What fools thought that?
Nobody with any sence ;) but I think after sega dropped out your mainstream gamer (horrible phrase but best I could think of without calling them chavs :p) thinks nintendo are dead men walking in the console market and its only a matter of time before "t3h kiddie company" goes bust.

The small matter of booming handheld sales and about $400 million profit last year disproves that!

Managed to pick up a standard DS mario kart pack and Harry potter DS for £99.99 a couple months back, from a famous 3 letter music and games store, worth considering, better value imo.

HMV ?

Apparantly retail over in japan is aprox £80-85, I think play-asia were the worst iirc they were asking $300

yup, the price increase with places like play asia isn't due to an increase in the RRP/SRP but largely profiteering :( (they know people will pay it, especially those who don't live in Japan and can't really shop round at the moment).

Give it a month or two and the price will drop to the RRP.

The thumbstrap had a use? :o
Don't think I've ever needed it.

There was a 007 game (can't remember the name) I played that had a goldeneye like multiplayer mode, the thumbstrap was really good in that.

I dunno, the thumbstrap wasn't bad in the Metroid demo. It might have it's uses yet.

Definitely way better with the thumbstrap, it became hard to hold the ds with your lft hand and use the stylus. Maybe that wont be such an issue with the lite, it just felt more comfy with the thumb thing in Metroid.

That wasn't a problem with anyone I know, from my shovel hands to my 12 year old brothers.
