Just ordered this TV from Amazon, should be here tomorrow.

Pretty excited and looking forward to trying out Kodi on it.

Lovely. Yeah I've got Kodi installed on it which has made my HTPC completely redundant (in a good way).

I've got the KD55XD8005 and while it does run Kodi reasonably well I found that playback had an ever so slight "judder" compared to my Intel NUC running OpenElec and so I've switched back to using that!

Android TV on the Sony's can't do frame rate switching also ARC will only pass AC3 and DTS to any attached AV so no EAC3, HD Audio formats or Multi-Channel PCM so it's probably not the best platform to install Kodi/SPMC on.

It will be fine for me, I mainly use kodi for tv shows and cant be bothered to unzip/unrar. I don't have mine connected to an amp either as I generally use my PS4 Pro with Plex and generally use headphones.

I've found Kodi to be absolutely fine. Certainly less faff than using an HTPC. Not sure what the actual real-world implications of the above are but I get surround sound...

I know what you mean - when I first installed it I was sure it would replace my NUC but I'm very picky when it comes to my viewing and once I noticed the judder (and it is only slight!) then I couldn't un-see it and had to switch back or it would have driven me mad!

Well got kodi installed no problem but I can't seem to get networking working. It seems fine on the other apps like plex, YouTube and Netflix but not kodi. It reports it has an ip, I try to add network source, it finds the workgroup but says connection timed out.

So have I got this right......

My PS4 is plugged into an amp and then the amp to the tv (so I get he audio) but with the xd8005 it won't accept this?

Try SPMC instead, Koying has changed the method the Kodi network core uses to access Network resources.

TV has arrived.

Less than 22 hours since clicking the purchase button. I love Amazon Prime and DPD.

Cannot wait to get home and set it up!

My earlier question was about this comment. i play blurays through my PS4 that's connected to an amp so I get hd audio I was wanting to know would this affect that in anyway?
