Anyone got the Sony Bravia KD55XD8005?

My earlier question was about this comment. i play blurays through my PS4 that's connected to an amp so I get hd audio I was wanting to know would this affect that in anyway?

No you will be fine as framerate switching is fine from external sources (as long as the external source is capable of switch to 24Hz that is ;) ). Also your AMP will get the HD Audio fine. It's only internal sources like a Kodi/SPMC install on the TV or the TVs own video player that can't switch refresh and are limited to "lossy" audio tracks.

Ahh ok then. Thank you for clearing that up.
One other thing is the site says it's only 50hz and I've read reports how the PS4 pro won't work Well with 50hz but then others say the sony says it's capable of 400hz for this xd8005 model

I'm fairly sure all the XD80s are 60Hz (apart from one Curry's exclusive model that had a 120Hz panel) they just quote 50Hz for Europe as that's the legacy frequency, you will be fine.

Ignore the 400Hz, it's the Sony Motionflow frame interpolation frequency and generally should be turned off as it's very unnatural causing the Soap Opera Effect ;)

I just got the KD55XD8599 not sure how different it is but doesn't warrant a different thread. Amazing TV, put Kodi on it and Netflix 4K is stunning :D

Coming from an 6 Year old LG Plasma is a nice change, so many features.

One this though the blacks are PANTS maybe I am used to Plasma, they seem gray.

Shame otherwise a brilliant TV

8055 or 8005? :p. The 8005 is incredible, especially BT Sport 4K. The Football mode does actually improve things as well rather than just being a gimmick.

Absolutely loving the TV.

4K is just beautiful. Watched The Grand tour and Mad Max to put it through its paces, one is not disappointed. Interface and OS feels good too.

I bought this in the flash sale too and the 'enhanced HDMI' setting took me a bit of time to find as well...

One curious issue is that the Netflix button on the remote doesn't work, yet Netflix works fine through the menu.

I also had to force it to reboot once (power off/on) when Weird Things (tm) happened tho I can't remember exactly what was up (usually I blame Sky Q for any weirdness and shrug).

Apart from that it's great - very slim and astounding picture quality. Just need to replace it with a 65" now! :D

Clear the cache, uninstall netflix and reinstall. I had the same issue until I sorted that, no problems since.

I really, really like the way these Sony's look...

Any further feedback since you guys have picked one up? Any juddering?

So just been told to download the new Marshmellow 6 Android software. Anybody gone ahead and done it?

Might be worth holding off until Sony have a proper fix for the cycling reboot problem that some people are having.

**Edit, Actually Sony haven't issued a firmware update for the XD80s since November, have you not updated from that? The reboot issues are related to the XD85s and a firmware released to them on the 22nd this month. As far I can see that firmware has never been released to the XD80 series so there is no firmware to update.

**Edit2, Ahh, just noticed you have an XD85 :), definitely hold off until info from Sony is more concrete on what is causing the cyclical reboots for some users. Don't want to brick your box ;)

I didn't really want to open a new thread lol sorry for the confusion. Yes I have the XD85 well I updated via USB and it took 15 mins, it was about 1.2GB in total and went ok, I didn't see the reboot issues so should have done some more investigation work! How could they release an update that would brick a TV ha! Shocking.

Anyway seems to be identical IMO the home menus are a lot faster though, don't lag.

Wish they would fix the ITV Hub for the other half, it only shows 30% of the normal Android version which is strange.

Just saw this pop up for £639 for the 55" version, very tempted as my 40" 4k monitor is starting to do some strange reseting things when i first boot, screen flashing black 3-5 times before it settles down, when makes me think its on the way out.

Is it a good gaming screen and has anyone used it as a PC monitor? I would mainly be for PC and Xbox in my man cave.

After checking a lot of reviews I've decided to get the dx558005 sony 55 inch 4k tv
Amazon prime deal was tempting but I couldn't find out any Info on the length of warranty that came with the tv . Argos and Tesco only do 1 year and suspect amazin is the same.
I've ordered from John Lewis £750 with free delivery and comes at that price with a 5 year
Warranty
Either sounds have a 6 year warranty on the tv but on their site it said it could be new , open box or even a store ex demo at the stated price
( no thanks )
Now the long wait till it arrives on Monday

I'm going to fire up this thread again if nobody minds!
Was looking at a Samsung 55MU7000 (I have the 65" curved upstairs for my xbox one x) but I found out as it's not android you cant install Kodi on it.
I'm now considering the Sony KD55XD8005BU as you guys say Kodi runs fine on it.

Now.. 2 questions!

1 - At the start of this thread somebody said they'd heard only 2 of the 4 HDMI's are 4k compliant. Can anybody confirm or deny this?

2 - Can I cast my android phone screen to the TV using the smart view toggle in the phones pull down settings. I know I can push the button when in the youtube app for example to view the video on the tv but i'd like to see my phone home screen, photos, etc on the tv wirelessly too.

Thanks!
