Anyone had any issues with vertical lines appearing on an Optoma projector?

Hi all,

I've had an Optoma HD700X for about 9 months now, haven't used it for about a week, turned it on today to be greeted by a display of corrupt vertical lines down the screen, probably about 10-15 of them all the way along it :(

Tried it with no input sources, left it unplugged for a while and tried again etc, no joy. Have emailed Optoma so hopefully any repair/replacement is as painless as possible.

Anyone had anything similar or had any experience with Optoma support?

yup, got this on my Optoma HD70 once. Not sure what the problem was but I turned it off, disconnected it from the power, let it cool for a bit and whipped the bulb out, gave it a quick clean and put it back together again. its been fine ever since

Ah ok, cool, will give that a go as changing the bulb doesn't void warranty (didn't want to go poking around inside if it was going to void the warranty but opening up the bulb bit should be fine)

Any tips for taking it out, there's instructions in the manual, but anything to look out for etc.?

Thanks :)

If you've had it on make absolutly sure its been off for a while otherwise you will burn yourself lol it gets incredibly hot!

Other than that just make sure you dont put any fingerprints on the bulb itself. It's in a plastic/metal housing that has a handle to pull it out with so no problem there, and its just 2 screws to get it out so an easy job :)

Tried that and no luck, looks like it's got to be repaired/replaced. Reading over on AVForums and a couple of people seem to have had the issue, read one case of it being all sorted inside a week so fingers crossed!

hope you get it sorted. I did read on AV forums that all optoma projectors come with a 3-year warranty as standard.....if true that may be useful if mine goes again!

Had a phone call today from Optoma and they're going to pick it up tomorrow.

Very impressed with the speed of service so far, hopefully won't be without it too long :)

Funny I come across this thread. I have the exact same issue with my HD72i. My warrenty ran out a year ago and would cost me £80 for Optoma to check it over before issuing me with a quote to fix it.

It went all funny with the lines last year and never got around to sorting it out. I booted it up the other week and was greeted with the same lines. I might take out the lamp and see if that helps.

In theory shouldn't happen with the HD70/700X due to the cooling system it uses. Still a good idea to make sure tho :D
