Anyone had issues with Blizzard refunds? They're refusing a refund and making up reasons why.

My son bought MW III a couple of days ago, tried playing it and it was crashing constantly. No fixes seem to work (yes I've tried problem solving it) so he asked for a refund.
He raised a ticket and is getting refused stating he needs to have owned it less than 14 days and played less than 2 hours, the thing is he's only had it 2 days and has shown me the screen showing he's only played it for 34minutes and sent them a screenshot to prove this.
The customer service responses are pitiful, overly friendly and using ASCII art to try and seem 'fun'. Apparently 2 different agents have both raised it with a supervisor and they're really sorry but they just can't do a refund as he's played it too much.

He's now £40 down on a game he can't even start and short of doing a chargeback which would get his account banned (so losing all the other stuff he's bought therefore not an option) I'm out of ideas.
Has anyone got anywhere with them before? It's like they're not even reading the messages and it's so frustrating!

Where's the shrug emoji?

He satisfies the criteria for a refund and they're refusing to do so. The customer support agents are useless, not reading the tickets and apparently not even looking at screenshots attached. They're then either lying about, or passing it to a 'supervisor' who is making the same errors.

It's not unreasonable to want this resolved. The reason PC refunds exist is likely for this exact case, he can't use the product.

He may well have taken a screenshot after only 34 minutes of 'playtime' but wouldn't having the game open and running when attempting to troubleshoot and fix it count towards 'playtime' too?

I dunno if the same with the new versions of the games, but the in game stat card in the originals was always lower time played than what Steam, or whichever launcher you used, showed. Not sure if it just used cumulative round time rather than all the time the game client was open.

For example at one point I have a screenshot showing in game 159 hours, Steam 309 hours.

The 34 minutes was showing after he'd first asked for a refund and it was declined, and he'd not played any further as he couldn't.
I can't help but think because they use the same launcher for multiple games it could be something to do with that, but he'd surely not be the first one to have this problem.

If they have social media, complain on there. They will probably be more willing to act when everybody can see an unhappy customer.

Outside of a chargeback/small claims, incessant moaning on social platforms seems the way forward. Tis the modern way.

Cheers guys, I don't have twitter/Facebook (get off my lawn!) so seems like we take the hit, a teachable moment on the scummy-Ness of large corporations!

He's tried a few things and I've taken a quick look, next step is to DDU and reinstall drivers and go from there :)

Raise a complaint, if that doesn't work go to the ombudsman (if there is one) or write to the CEO where it will be dealt with by the high level complaints team instead.

Guys, you should know it's Blizz, not Blizzard!

Hope @Rob_B gets it sorted though.

I gave up on Blizz 10 years ago when it became impossible to log onto the WoW servers on WoD release on my very brief 2014 return. It was much worse than on TBC and TLK releases when I played WoW in 2005-9.

Unrelated to receiving a refund, but as what's meant to be an "AAA" game, it's horrific for reliability.

I've had constant crashes across MW2 and MW3, as have my friends, and reddit is filled with it!

So, after a 5th or 6th (?) message and us asking for evidence that he has played more than 2 hours they've magically refunded it! Christ that was a slog.

And their messages are cringy as anything, they're trying to be 'cool' and they are failing miserably!
