Anyone help with a neighbour dispute?

sounds like a muppet, just ignore him... but also keep an eye on him, you could come home one day and hes decided to dismantle your shed.

i have a terrible neighbour too, he lit fire to a bail of hay in his field (old moldy bail) but the spud lit it over dry long grass, i came home and the corner of my field was raging a blaze, flames above my hip, lucky it spread right along the channel where the stream is so i managed to put it out with bailing heaps of water... it burned all my fenceposts to ash though, bloody neighbours.

Anybody see The Planners Are Coming last night?
There was an asian couple who had a kitchen built without planning permission.
They were told not to carry on but finished it and then installed the fitted kitchen which was obviously bought made to measure.
The council came and told them to remove 15" off the length which basically buggered all their kitchen.
I did laugh a lot.

hold on, is he asking you take it down and allow him access across your land?
i dont quite get the access part

Why does them being asian have any relevance to the story?

*Blue touchpaper lit, time for bed ;) *

LOL!

I cannot stop laughing at that! Prue genious!!!

/sorry for off topic :p

"I'm in your face" kills me every time. :D

On topic.....what exactly is his beef with the shed? Am I the only person who has absolutely no idea so far about what the "actual" problem is?

Do what somebody else suggested and get it sorted as quickly and as amicably as possible before it spirals into something a whole lot more sinister.

I don't particularly understand what "blue touchpaper" you are trying to light here? Perhaps you can enlighten me and tell me the relevance of your post to this thread? Other than trying to stir up some sort of ultra-paranoia based political correctness debate of course?

The simple answer is you have done nothing wrong, and your shed does not infringe on their property, or privacy.
You have nothing to worry about.

And tell the ****er that.

I am a town Planner and this sort of thing occures a lot with neighbours. However as long as you comply with the following you shed is legal.

PART 1 Class E
Outbuildings
1. Development is not permitted by Class E if

(a) the total area of ground covered by buildings within the curtilage (other than the original) would exceed 50% of the total area of the curtilage (excluding the ground area of the original)
(b) any part would be forward of the principal elevation of the original dwelling house
(c) the building would have more than one storey
(d) the height would exceed 4 metres with a dual-pitched roof, 2.5 metres within 2 metres of the boundary or metres in any other case
(e) the eaves height would exceed 2.5 metres
(f) it would be within the curtilage of a listed building
(g) it would include a veranda, balcony or raised platform

(h) it relates to a dwelling or a microwave antenna
(i) the capacity of any container would exceed 3,500 litres

The relevant section to you is:

(d) the height would exceed 4 metres with a dual-pitched roof, 2.5 metres within 2 metres of the boundary or metres in any other case.

If you comply with that he cannot touch you as the shed is totally legal.

HE can build RIGHT up against the boundary, with only 1 exceptions.

Fire.

Under Part (i can't remember) for Fire in Planning Reg, you can't have a window in a wall 1m away from the boundary. If the wall is up against the boundary then it can't have a window. I am not sure if this apply to a shed though.

So long as he complied with the new Permitted Development rights as of 1st october 2008 which state:

(d) the height would exceed 4 metres with a dual-pitched roof, 2.5 metres within 2 metres of the boundary or metres in any other case.

If he wanted anything bigger than he would have to apply for planning permission.
