Anyone Here dont own a tv

I got rid of my TV about 3 years ago. One of my better decisions IMO, I no longer spend night after night sitting down doing squat.

That's not to say we don't have a TV in the house, there is Sky HD downstairs, but I must watch that maybe 4-5 times a month if that, unless we are in lost/spooks/top-gear season, in which case I watch those programs once a week.

This is not only owning a TV but subscribing for extra TV services. How can that possibly constitute you getting rid of your TV?

i don't have one in uni halls and when I move into my own place I probably won't have one unless I want a games console. My parents have a TV but all I ever really watch is the news, F1, football and occasionally Big Brother which is not really worth the license fee.

2. Been constantly harrassed by the TV licensing ("police action", courts etc and fines mentioned from letter number 1) who refuse to believe the concept on not owning a TV is possible

I find those letters quite funny tbh.

I don't :) Well, my computer monitor has a tuner in it, but I've removed a wire in case the licensing people ever bother "raiding" me, used to watch it far too much at uni, and when I finished I decided to cut right back. 6 years later when I moved out of my parents' house the only thing I watched was lunchtime news if I was in.

When I got my flat, after a couple of months the licensing lot wrote to me pointing out they knew there was no licence here and I had to buy one. Near the bottom was a number (not free  ) to ring if you didn't have a TV. Rang in, explained the situation, the girl checked with her supervisor, and all was ok. Got a letter a couple of weeks later saying I might get a random visit from the gestapo to check, but they would basically leave me along for 3 years when they will write again to confirm I still don't have a TV.

What are my sofas pointing at? A 2m wide projection screen for DVD's and the odd computer game

Come on admit it who doesnt own a tv. How does it affect your life for the better, or worse. Infact whats your furniture pointing at if you dont own a tv?
Just curious i bet knowone here doesnt own a tv or even know anyone who doesnt.

I haven't owned a TV for the past year, hardly anything on TV interests me anymore.

If there's a series I like: 24, Lost, Scrubs, Heroes then I'll buy the DVDs if they're available. (Or watch them from other sources.. then buy the DVDs!) :p

We have a TV in the kitchen, but it's only ever switched on if you fancy a bit of background noise when cooking.

I used to know someone at school who didnt own a TV, or any kind of technology for that matter, it is against his religion. anyone know what this religion is called, he told me at the time but I have forgotten :)

I don't own one :) Although that may be cheating, as I tend to divide my living time between my aunt and my boyfriend, who both own TVs ;) When I move into my own place, then will probably get one though won't watch it much.

It wasnt Amish, I remember it was a religion that sounded like someones name, John Smith for example :p Sorry im just curious as so i can read about it on wikipedia
