Anyone here had/got a puppy/dog?

measure food once onto scales, then tip into an old/cheap (but clean) cup or jug.
Mark line where the food fills up to - instant measuring jug for that food for future use :)

Our mutt is pretty good, he'll just eat when he's hungry and we just have to top his dry food up once every couple of days, in addition to his scrambled eggs and chews.

Besides a king charles cavalier, a labrador is the best tempered dog i've ever owned. They get fat easy when they're older though, so watch the diet!

Hi,

Today we finally got our chocolate labrador puppy wooohooo :D

He is still quite nervous and exploring his new home.

We have been given the same puppy food that he has been started on (pro plan dry food for puppies). He has been fed 50 grams 4 times per day. However, I do not have any scales yet and need to buy some later or tomorrow.

Could someone give me a rough estimate of how much 50 grams of puppy food is... a picture or a cupful etc.

New experience for me as this is our first dog. :D

Thank you for your help.
I'm jealous !
Don't forget to take out insurance against vet bills.
My parents have a 3 year old labrador, he will eat ANYTHING, i mean ANYTHING ! !
The vets bills have been covered by insurance, over £3000 at the moment.

All dogs think about food 24/7.

Labs are truly greedy animals. You really need to own one in order to appreciate the mild insanity they often exhibit around food. My parents have a Chocolate Labrador - on one occasion she managed to drag a tin of Christmas cookies off a table in the dining room. A massive tin, mind; around 60 largish cookies. I think she polished them off in around 5 minutes and would have happily eaten more.

My 1 year old staffy bitch eats 3 times a day. Bakers puppy mix, with some fresh cooked lambs heart that i pick up from the butchers.

She will eat until she is not hungry anymore, and usually does not finish the bowel. However she does eat ALL of the heart ;)
