I tend to like old British tv shows, especially comedies, and sitcoms.

I think the oldest shows I've watched on dvd have been from the 1960s, some are black and white.

If you do like old shows, what are your favourites?

My two most recently watched shows are;

The Lovers, starring Richard Beckinsale and Paula Wilcox. That's from the 1970's.

The Gaffer, starring Bill Maynard (who played Greengrass in Heartbeat). That comedy is from the early 80s.

My secret shame is that I quite like The Good Life. :o
Secret shame? SECRET SHAME??

How could anyone be ashamed, secretly or otherwise, of enjoying one of the best, most hearwarming sitcoms ever made? The Christmas special ought to be broadcast straight after her Maj's speech, as compulsory viewing on all channels. And Felicity Kendal's cheeky grin is one of the few things that can still make me feel like an awkward teenager again.

Rumours that's because I was an awkward teenager when I watched it the first time, and therefore ill-equipped to make a balanced judgement, are entirely true. :-) Still, it's good that folk younger than the last ice age can appreciate this classic too.

Yes, I’m a classic sitcom addict. I have a massive hard drive full of them plugged into my Nvidia shield.

Some of my favs are Fawlty towers, Porridge, Rising Damp (Leonard Rossiter was one of the best for me), Dads army, Going straight, Man about the house, only when I laugh and Steptoe.

Getting later into the 80’s and 90’s, I like OFAH, MBB, One foot in the grave, blackadder, the thin blue line and a few more.

Best thing about the good life was Felicity Kendal’s deliciously pert boobies :p

Porridge is one of, if not the best sitcom we've ever produced.
100% agree Feek, nothing new or old can hold 4 candles to porridge.

So many old classics still stand the test of time, no swearing needed, just pure old school british comedy.
couple not mentioned above, but classics.....butterflies....on the buses!!

Yeah, On the buses was good. I liked Jack, very funny.

Sadly, the actor who played him, Bob Grant, killed himself using the hosepipe in the exhaust method.

Very sad, thats depression for you.He attempted to take his life before that aswell :(

Usless info of the day, reg varney was the first person in the uk to use a hole in the wall cash machine.

Father Christmas gave me one of my favourite children's series from when I was a child: the box of delights. My kids have been loving it!
The Wolves are running Kay Harker. A staple of mine this time of year and the intro used to scare the bejesus out of me as a nipper.

Still partial to a bit of Supermarionation.

No love for the Darling Buds of May or is that too young?

My personal favourites:

M*A*S*H
Porridge
Dad's Army
