Anyone know the rules on taking Laptops on a plane?

Sometimes you do. I.e. On US-arline flight I've had to, as have colleagues. And KLM for that matter.

I flew back from the US on Monday and had to take my laptop oout of the bag. Flew BA as well, and you don't get power points in economy yet

Still squeezed a nice 4 hour Civ III session out of my little Eee though!!!

WHAT? Mine is 2 years old but I've never had close to that. New Macbook Pro is on the cards.

They often don't like you using it for take-off and landing, but in the air as long as you have the wi-fi etc turned off there's no problems. Unless the guy in front puts his seat down

That is above Apples claim for any laptop they sell, i used to get 3 or 4 tops out of the macbook - nearer 2.5 if using normal.

I've always seemed to get good batterys...

my original iBook used to last for 7 hours! I sold it to a mate, it's now 3 years old, and he gets 4hours out of it.

Only get about 4 hours out of my acer one with Arch Linux, everything turned off.

I fly BA every year ( i like their service) and have yet to see a laptop port in word traveller
