That's a good idea but storms shouldn't be a huge problem if you pick decent locations, i read somewhere that guys island has been through some rough weather and survived, surely if it's free to move with the wind and waves it's less likely to breakup then if it was held in place?
Ocean storms batter massive cruise liners and container ships, they would tear this little thing to pieces.
heck it would probbaly pull it's self apart.
I preferred it when we lived on that spaceship.
If a bunch of us do what this guy did and attached it to a small boat, we could create a mobile island community and travel anywhere we like living independently.
It can be done quite cheaply and has the potential to grow into something quite good, imagine getting to visit lots of nice warm locations, growing and catching your own food, while still keeping a technologically advanced way of life, low power devices are easy to run, laptop with satellite internet pretty much covers communication and entertainment.
I've even got some ideas on how we can create lots of energy cheaply from the wind and waves by encircling the islands with energy harvesters, which would also have the added benefit of making the inner area calm.
We could put it in the Thames, though I have heard that Mr Cameron probably won't want a floating flotilla of Islands carrying women in cages.

I'll run the Apple Store![]()
)That would ruin the whole idea of an ocuk island.
Wasn't there a guy on this forum that left an island recently to pursue a career in medicine.
I remember him saying that the island had a population of a few thousand at most?
Does anyone remember the name of the island, it's somewhere near the UK (and no not the Isle of Wight)
Here i made an image showing what i mean.

It was Tres, and he lived on the Isles of Scilly; Tresco to be exact. South West of Cornwall.
would that even work? the force of a wave isnt only on the top of the waters surface so the water inside wont actually be calm?
