Anyone moved to a 3080ti from a 3080? or 3080 to a 3090?

Wondering if people are still buying 3080s, bought my EVGA FTW for 900 quid, wondering if it will sell as I can get a 3080ti for £1060 for MRSP

Apparently miners want 3080s over 3080ti's because they perform better for mining? not sure if thats true, guys?

Probably true. A £900 3080 ain't losing money for a long time, let alone a 650 quidder like wot i have.

Suspect they’ll still be going well on eBay, my non-LHR 3070 went for £950 within 24hrs of listing last week.

On mining part, would be true as 3080Tis come with hash rate cut out the box. the 3080, older ones do not come hash rate cut, not do FE models. newer AIB 3080's though can be lower hash rate. But yeah would still sell quick.

ok so i bought my EVGA 3080 FTW Ultra Xmas last year, 18th December 2020 will that be a non LHR or LHR?

How can you tell if your GPU is LHR or non LHR?

Also Non LHR is GPU's with no restriction to mining right?

Your one would not be LHR. Only started in around May, usually product page will highlight it has a lower hash rate as they treat them as a different SKY and have LHR in title / box (may not in case of 3080Ti or 3070Ti which come with LHR be default so may not be specially called out)

boss will a Nvidia 3080ti founders edition be LHR?

I just finalized my move to an Asus 3080 Ti TUF. I had sold my well-used 3080 non-LHR to a miner last week for £1400, bought the Ti for £1300 so netted a little profit. The TUF runs cool and does a moderate OC, but is nothing special, certainly can't justify paying much more than an FE for it.

I do, unsurprisingly, see a difference in games that weren't already running >80fps on my 3080 (my UW monitor is 110hz). These titles include Control, CP77, Metro Exodus, SoTR. On other games, the increase in rendering power is not noticeable.

Was it worth a near one to one trade with the risk that comes with selling a GPU? -- probably. Would it have been worth it had I been buying from scratch and spent £1300 over £900? -- heck no.

I went from a zotac 3090 to a 3080ti fe just recently for 2 reasons. First reason was i wasnt that happy with the zotac, its one of poorest performing 3090s in benchmarks. Its power limit is locked and despite following several guides it just would not flash so i could properly overclock it. With the 3080ti fe overclocking was easy, i get about 1000 extra with it in timespy.

Second reason was financial. I sold the 3090 on ebay, i bought it at xmas for msrp (this was when prices werent inflated) and got my money back even though its 8 months old. So now i have a new card, i have a little extra gpu performance and saved about £500. Slight downer is the ti has slight coil whine under heavy load. Its not bad, i did think about returning it but its hardly audible above the fans, if i returned it now i'd have no gpu. The 3090 had no coil whine.
What’s your timespy stock score with the 3080ti and 3090?
I’ve a 3080ti tuf oc at 19,400 stock. Is this alrigh?

Most definitely.

A certain pawn shop raised their buying prices for GPU prices overall, pretty sure you could manage to s Your 3080, buy a 3080TI FE and still manage some extra spare change on your pocket.

In terms of timespy that’s like 3% better than my non ti 3080 for me at least it’s not worth the hassle of changing the gpu over even if it’s a free trade.

I can't remember the exact scores but:

FE 3080ti: it was about 19200 stock. Overclocked score just over 20,000, maybe 20,200. It was something like +1000 memory and +200 clock using evga x1 precision.

zotac 3090: it was about 18873 stock. I couldn't overclock it as its power limit is locked in the bios. I tried to flash a different bios, followed detailed and reliable guides carefully to the letter, but always got a windows error.

I'm no expert but your tuf 3080ti score sounds ok to me, higher than mine stock which is to be expected. I bet it would oc some more though.

Nope but I'm seriously thinking about selling my 3090 to CEX for £150 profit and pick up a 6900XT instead, if only I could pick one up for the right price...

Its managing the heat thats driving me nuts its not so bad going into autumn now but over the summer its been a headache unless the windows open behind it and a fan blowing the air towards the open window it just heats up the room like crazy I'm tired of it. That and the noise from the CPU and other fans trying to deal with the furnace in the case. And thats with it undervolted.

I did think about upgrading my 3080 to 3090 but when you look at the benchmarks for gaming at 4k Ultra ,you only get max 5-10 FPS more so its pretty safe to say that is not worth a £800 more.... Could prob get £1200 for my card and then you are looking at £2000 min for 3090 so I think I am going to stick with my 3080 that cost me £1100 of scalper last year

The best thing to do cooling and noise wise is to go with watercooling, if you're spending £1500 on a GPU why not splash out on cooling? In terms of heating the case and room will a 6900XT really fix that? it's 300W v 350W.
