Am I the only one who goes "Bareback" so to speak?

Just using the Windows firewall and Windows defender and most importantly, common sense :)

Roll on the "OMG YOUR CRAZY" posts.

The one time i installed an AV it detected my game files as harmfull and deleted them, so i dont bother. It was more hassle having it installed. If i ever do get anything serious i'll just reformat, it only takes an hour or so. all i use my pc for is games and here.

It was, it was bioshock. apparently very common with AVG Free. I never had any problems without an AV, as soon as i install one it messes me up.

I use a software firewall (Comodo) because Windows Firewall still doesn't stop outgoing requests.

There's a lot of programs that I don't think need access to the internet, so I refuse them.

But certainly, I don't think much unsolicited stuff gets through the routers NAT.

I use Windows Firewall, and set my router to stealth mode. For antivirus, I use the one and only NOD32. Despite the name, it also works in x64 systems as well, and uses next to nothing resources-wise.

Haven't used anything since new pc + Vista x64.

"riding bareback" if router doesn't count.

Ordering £3.5k worth of NOD32 at work tomorrow, will grab myself a license.
