Anyone not like being overtaken?

ive never been overtaken on a b road so i couldnt tell you haha

i couldnt even count the number of times ive had people waving fists at me when ive passed them on a b road.

in most cases, if ive had to pass someone i flash my hazzards when im past to "say thanks" if they werent a arse about it

An amusing, but slightly worrying story my brother just told me!

My brother over took a guy on a straight country road on the way back from the gym.

A few seconds later he noticed the car he had just overtaken getting closer and closer to him. Unfortunately, it didn't stop getting closer and rammed my brother's car!

My brother pulled over in shock, to which the car behind also pulled over.

Out jumped an angry little man shouting at my brother for overtaking him. The guy apparently pushed my brother (strange move, my brother is a 6ft, 18st fireman who's training for strong man competitions).

My brother explained he was perfectly entitled to overtake him and that ramming the back of his car was beyond justification.

My brother told him to wait while he phoned the police.

While my brother was on the phone the man then jumped back into his car. Drove off to the end of the road. Turned around and sped back down the road and knocked my brother's wing mirror off!

I know people joke about the fact that they don't like to be overtaken - but this seems a bit extreme!!

Thankfully my brother got his license plate number and so is off to the police station now.

Just a slightly surreal story I thought I'd share with you :D

OMG! Road rage! That's insane.

I hate people who refuse to go over 70 in 3rd lane and refuse to budge thinking 'legal limit, I don't have to move for someone wanting to go faster'

Good thing on a bike you never have trouble with being overtaken / tailgaters, twist grip to stop and watch them engage reverse :)

You don't have to put up with it in a car either, just undertake the idiots.

Some guy slammed his brakes on the other day because he probably thought I was too close on a winding 40mph road to work - I had around 1.5 car lengths distance which is perfectly adequate distance on this particular road and he just slammed his brakes! I slammed mine and stopped before him, my colleague wa sin her car behind me and after we arrived at work asked wtf that driver was dong as she saw it all happen too.

Gotta be careful of some moron drivers out there even if you're not tailing!

quick flash of the xenons once some space appears in the middle lane usually gets my point across :D

Not so much I wouldn't go over 70, as I couldn't as there were cars in front of me doing 70. :D

I'm more than happy to move if someone behind me wants to give it the beans down the motorway.
I've been there done that, (to the point of bieng caught at 142mph many years ago) but,
I expect a level of common sense from someone who wants to do those speeds.

If there's a line of cars in front, why be so aggressive trying to overtake just one of them?

you sure you don't have halogen flashing bulbs? xenons take a couple seconds to warm up properly :) (?)

I don't like being overtaken, but i i just do the normal man reaction try and overtake stuff back, even though my car is a heap.

Sorry but that's not a "normal man" reaction, it's the reaction of a insecure person. If someone overtakes you because they want to drive faster, why on earth that that damage your ego?

i once overtook somebody within the speed limit and in the correct manner, indicated etc and i could see him speeding up as i passed (i was in a 1.2 ibiza SX at the time), it was a clear road downhill and you could see at least a mile of road ahead, anyway, i got into the next village and there were temp lights which were on red and this bloke pulls up behind me and gets out of his car and starts banging on my window, i ignored him and the lights turned to green so i left him in the road.

I don't mind being overtaken, again, in the correct manner.

It's people that hog the middle lane of a motorway that annoy me more than anything and i'm guilty of undertaking these people on a few occasions just to make a point, i know it's not clever but i can't help it lol.

The other day i had to do 100 odd to overtake a porsche that did me on the a419, stupid move, yes. Satisfying? Oh hells yes.
Then he shot past me again :D

Do you have a small penis by any chance?

My xenons are on all the time which is probably why the majority of outside hoggers move in when they see me coming :D

And then they see my single tailpipe of fail and go "ffffffFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU..."

I have had a case of the idiot overtaker.

driving to work on the A38 to get to the motorway, going up over a hill, two lanes going up, one coming down, all the cars go in th esecond lane mailny as the first gets a few tractors, vans etc going v slow to get up the hill.

Around mid way up is a s-bend, so there I am going up the hill, a steady stream of traffic coming the other way, and then I notice coming the other way round the next corner in MY lane some big 4x4. the distance between the bends are only around 50m, I just managed to swerve a small gap between a van and a tractor otherwise he would have hit me head on as he couldnt move back into his lane as there was a good line of traffic there.

Just crazy. Who drives round blind s-bends on the wrong side of the road?

I got abuse from an old man who was doing 30MPH in a NSL Zone, I dropped it in third overtook safely. I then saw a petrol station and though oh I need some of that and I pulled in only to have this old codger follow me and and give me a right verbal about what a hooligan I was. He got told to ****, naturally :o

Do you have a small penis by any chance?

+1

I've had quite a few 'incidents' when overtaking, e.g. a woman with her young son in speeding up a lot when I was overtaking her, then laughing to her son about it .

Also catching a car on a country road, they slow right down and indicate left when its clear to overtake, then floor it off when I was along side them .

I don't overtake much down here, but usually get some kind of abuse (lights flashed/ hand gestures).

I hate those white van drivers who wave you past and then try to speed up so you can't pass. Hilarious.

Who said it damaged my ego, i just don't like being overtaken, it's like someone saying i'm slow.

I'm not rude about it, but i'll always try and get them back.

No, it's driving like a moron. If you get overtaken why feel the need to overtake and put yourself in a dangerous situation? Why can't you just drive normally? I bet you drive slow to bait people into overtaking...

Grow up
