Anyone noticed this?

There are people on these forums who annoy the hell out of me on one forum, yet they are much better to have a discussion with on another.

Anyone else find this?

Yes a big Yes in fact.

Also there are people that i dislike initially that win me round. El being a prime example. He used to irritate me but now i enjoy his threads/posts and think he is a good part of the boards. Great entertainment you could say.

I only use GD, SC, Music and the odd peep in Motors - I forget its a hardware forum and just instinctively scroll down loads when I log on :D

I have noticed how each section of the forum on here seem to have "expert" that can sometimes come across like they even own those section. Here is what i noticed. Also how allaince seem to be formed and might suggest a verbal rebellion..

General discussion feature some regular posters like me, zip, dirty dog, etc

As for someone being untouchable, certainly in GD, it just doesn't happen.

If I was you I'd just click the button to minimise the whole of the Hardware sections if they are of no interest to you, it is what I do for the sections that don't interest me. :)

//edit I don't know if I'd say that GD or SC are run by certain posters, in fact almost certainly not in the case of GD but you can guarantee that certain names will re-occur around the same topics again and again.

Networks = tolien, but quite rightly, the guy knows a lot.

Agreed, that guy is a fountain of knowledge, so is Nathan_E in Windows.

I think it's inevitable that some people will have exenstive knowledge in one specific area. But if you think they 'own' a section, I think you may be feeling maybe alittle inadequate or even jealous. These people add a lot of value to the forums and this is one of the reasons OcUK is so popular.

You can do that? - I only just discovered the WYSIWYG editor the other day - being able to copy and paste images and do fonts etc. in real time  - sure that hasn't always been there :(

Yeah. :D On the Forums home page click the little button that looks a bit like Λ at the right hand side of the screen just opposite the title of the sub-grouping and hey presto, forgetting about that section is pretty much done. :)

<SNIP>

But i have also seen you on many occassions argue black is white, or deny something you have said, when it is posted for you.

Everyone has their talents and knowledge base, or intresets, and as such they will be the primary advisors or those with the facts/figures.

EG. Fox on Motors can be biased at times, but a lot of the time he backs his statements up with facts and figures relating to the car.

Huh? I wont deny something i have said before, perhaps you mean rephrase my words? Arguing black is white depends on where you stand - what is black to me might be white to someone else. :) Oh i do back my post up if needed.

Yes.

It still dosent disprove what i noticed. :)

People post reguarly in areas they are interested in, therefore are noticed due to them being regular posters.

Main areas I browse/post are:

GD
Motors
HG&P
P&V
HC&HF
PCG
CG&H
and sometimes M&BO

Although I don't post as much in Motors as I used to :p

In a nutshell, what exactly have you noticed? That the same people tend to keep answering the same questions?

What type of nut would this nutshell be from would you say?
