Anyone own a Maseratti?

I didn't realise that they do the fourdoor with a 3.0 diesel engine now.

It put him off good cars. He runs round in a Superb TDi now!

Don't you mean it's put him off expensive and pointless cars now? The Superb TDi would hardly be described as "not good". It's an extremely good mid-sized saloon.

My brother had a 2004 4200 that he kept until last year when he swapped it for 6 month old diesel Ghibli as it's better on fuel.

It did cost him £3.5k for pads and discs though at 1 point lol!!

Like a lot of Italian cars. A lot of money goes in to building them and the parts, but for some reason they never quite work properly :P

However, if one really must scratch the Maserati itch my Dad's neighbor told him he leases his for £550 a month. I presume new ones come with a warranty. It would probably work out cheaper over 2 or 3 years.

That can't be even close to being true.

Still probably cheaper and a lot less risky than buying one out of warranty. It's like all those old Merc AMGs you see lined up on autotrader. You can pick one up for as low as 5k but if something goes wrong you might as well scrap it.

Of course, the Superb is a fine car. Should have said expensive rather than good.

Never again. Epic running costs. Old technology and does not actilly feel that special when you get over the ohhh I own a maz.

Panamera is much better. Or if you want something a bit more special Aston Rapied

I spoke to my mate this morning who owned a 4200GT about 5 years ago (his was 2 years old when he bought it so about the same age as the OP is looking at).
He said that when it was working it was glorious but it was in the dealer so often to fix this and that that he stopped loving it very quickly. Said he would never own another.
He's now on his second Nissan GT-R and much happier.

Well, for the sake of that person, he lives in a council owned, one room "studio" apartment above a massage parlour;)

Ive pointed him toward this thread. The issues raised, plus some others he discovered the other day have lessened his enthusiasm for one. I wish I could talk him into getting a GT-R, but I think that's more my territory.

Seems quite a bit of negativity towards the Quattroporte!

Obviously at a different price point but from a general point of view, how does the Granturismo stack up in comparison?

My cousin has a 64 Plate QP - Yes it sounds amazing but the media system is like something from the dark ages - pretty much pulled out of a Fiat of some sort.
