Anyone playing Company of Heroes?

for a C&C fan who hated Generals, is this worth getting?

Im a huge C&C fan and while I played through generals, did'nt think it was particulary mind blowing either.
Grab the CoH demo and you will be hooked, while I prefer the futuristic RTS over anything WW2 related, I am having a blast with this game.
Takes a few missions to get into it, then you find it hard to put down. Even some of the early missions have taken me a good half day give or take to do lol. And with its cheap £24.99 price tag and DoW bundled with it, you realy cant go wrong.

Quick question, does the DoW GoTY edition that comes with it include Winter Assault?

Mine came with a Dawn of War character guide. I must admit though, I don't know how I would be able to tell the difference?

tank rushing all CoH missions can't be done due to the simple fact one don't have armour ability in all the missions.. and they are in the first half of the game.

it's but easy and does not require any tactical thought for someone who, it seem's, has hardly played it ;)

Tank rushing is a turn of phrase.

Im what, 8 missions into it and all of them are beaten just by amassing a huge force and rushing the enemy.

Dawn of war completed in the same fashion.

Ho hum

Lol, just wait until you get to Mortain Counterattack (Mission 13) then come back and tell me how easy it is dude ;)

Been playing multiplayer recently, been having some really fun games, and getting a bit better at it. Im still a complete noob, but had a 2 hour long 2v2 today with me as axis and it was really good fun, thought it was all over at one point but their main attack failed and we countered with what we had left and took them over.

I only had a couple of tanks left but had loads of Grenadier squads all with Panzers, so could easily circle their remaining tanks and take them down. Was great fun :)

Im not saying this game is easy, time consuming at times maybe, but is it possible to actualy fail a mission  Im proberly not that far in, just completed the mission where you have to defend a square for 30mins and there never seems to be a point when your likely to loose.
Im on the "normal" difficulty, like most RTS games are the harder difficulty's just bumping up the cost to produce troops/vehicles or does it improve the AI?.

It gets plenty harder. Better AI along with better equipment.

hard is quite a bit different to normal. Normal skirmish games seem easy to me, where as hard im still finding challenging.

The campagin on hard is a right pain at times also.

If you want actual tactics/strategy I think your looking in the wrong place playing single player. Get online and mix it up with some real people, that’s when the depth of both this and dawn of war really shine through. Your first few matches will probably be straight forward but once you gain a few levels things should get interesting.

aye i dont understand someone complaining about how easy a game is offline... name me a single game ever where the computer has used a tactic other than spam units and single file charge them at ** base until you crumble

ps. if any of u are actually any good at the game say hi online some time, i play most nights and need some decent opposition

Has anyone done the mission where you have to take the "hill" in under 50mins?
I just dont see how it is possible, no where near enough time to amass enough resources to put a sizeable force together.
What tanks you do have time to build get wiped out on the way there
Although you don't realy loose if you dont pull it off, I wanna see what medal you get if you do. Any tactics would be nice so share the knowledge.
