No. It is possible to run XP inside VMware on Linux installed on the PS3 but as the PS3 has 256MB of RAM it's not really best suited for that sort of thing.

If it is capable of playing DivX/XviD and HD-video's well then it will be put on by tomorrow, can someone who has tried let me know?

Pretty sure the drivers aren't available for the wireless card in the PS3. So at the minute only the cabled connection is viable.
yeah your right mate just been reading that on another forum

Gah, this is making me want a PS3 more than the games it was really intended to play. Just wish Sony would lower the price to the US RRP.

I have yellow dog up and running, posting on here using it now - although I have no idea about installing apps but will experiment and figure it out, installing ydl was easy though.

Have a read about the yum command for RedHat/Fedora/CentOS. :)

Can people post pics of their ps3s running linux please

I think the ps3 is the first softmoddable console since the original xbox.

This is definately a thumbs up for sony.

the yum installer for ydl on ps3 is broken and needs to be configured correctly before you can install or update anything, there are many fixes for this problem around the net...so I will be tackling this problem tomorrow and will report back to you all
