No. It is possible to run XP inside VMware on Linux installed on the PS3 but as the PS3 has 256MB of RAM it's not really best suited for that sort of thing.

it will play them with vlc played when linux is installed just want to know how good it was

Since YDL is based on Red Hat it should take most Red Hat PPC applications.

Well i now have Fedora Core 5 installed on my ps3 went well took about 2 hours to install it But i have no net acress in it i am conected via wireless router

Anyone know how to solve this? iv never used linux before

Pretty sure the drivers aren't available for the wireless card in the PS3. So at the minute only the cabled connection is viable.

I have yellow dog up and running, posting on here using it now - although I have no idea about installing apps but will experiment and figure it out, installing ydl was easy though.

Have a read about the yum command for RedHat/Fedora/CentOS.

I think the ps3 is the first softmoddable console since the original xbox.

the yum installer for ydl on ps3 is broken and needs to be configured correctly before you can install or update anything, there are many fixes for this problem around the net...so I will be tackling this problem tomorrow and will report back to you all

just google yum on ydl 5.0 on ps3 fix and it should get you what you are looking for
