just google yum on ydl 5.0 on ps3 fix and it should get you what you are looking for

do you mean the yum update with therepos.zip? no ive already done that. instialling anything with yum works, but there's nothing there after the install is done. i cant figure it out lol

vlc. used the guides available to the letter. when the install is done you cant find the executable anywhere. also tried installing a flash player, but same story. installs fine, but cant find any trace of it when the install is done and flash still doesnt work

got vlc downloaded and working, it shows up in the applications tab, but mplayer is a different kettle of fish, fixing the yum was easy though

VLC worked fine for me but when I play a divx file through it the video looks really blockly
Is it like this for everyone?

I am currently waiting on getting my hands on a USB Keyboard before I install it and it's main use will be for DivX files.

I haven't tried a divx file but and mpeg2 file works fine, any issues with hd playback should be fixed soon, supposedly linux will get access to the other 256 of memory ( the rsx pool )

Which version of Linux should i install, is it limited to Yellowdog or can i use another version, if so what would be the best version to use and also taking into account not much experience with Linux.

Also will the wireless work on linux ok?

pretty sure the wireless won't work on linux. I'm gonna try putting gentoo on at the weekend but for a linux noob I'd imagine YDL is probably the easiest to get working.
