Im really bored with PC gaming at the moment, so im looking for something to keep me interested for a while. Im not a big expert of mmorpgs or anything, the only thing close to an mmorpg ive played before is guild wars which kept me hooked for a good 50-60 hours. But im looking for something else now, i was thinking trying LOTR: online, downloading the beta now, but thats about the only thing i can see. I dont want to try WoW because it turns you into a virgin freak. Are there any other games, and what have people thought of LOTR:O beta so far?

thanks.

sorry, forgot to mention that, i did the 14 days trial, tried to stick with it and even joined a corp but it was too hard and complicated for me :P

lotro is very good. loved the last few months in beta.

Honestly I found it to be one of the worse MMOs I've ever played. Oh well :p

I'd recommend EVE Online and EverQuest 2. All other current MMO games are not worth playing in my opinion.

I was reading about Vanguard recently, and the things it brought to the table were uninstanced player housing and decent crafting system with the possibility of making your own ships, taking your friends to different continents on them and even ship-ship combat.

Sound familiar much?

ive played it, but somthing about it made me lose interest at a pretty quick rate....might be because its yet another fantasy mmo, or because it just didnt have the community that swg had in its prime, rarely did anyone outside of the guild im in even speak to me

I heard there is a game similar to WoW called World of Warcraft. Its where us non-virgin non-freaks go. Large percentage of my guild were married with kids :P

Suggest you give it a trial, instead of giving gimp-ish statements like that...

Yeah. Ultima Online. :p

Vanguard has a lot of potential, but like most newly released MMO's its lacking in content and what content there is, is bugged to all hell. Its still a good game though, but I wouldn't suggest anyone playing it for quite a few months until its fixed.

does that mean youve stopped playing it every waking hour of the day? :p

It's got huge amount of content and nice playerbase. I am thinking about going back to it myself. After paying to beta test Vanguard which I will not do anymore... I believe Vg will be a good game in a year’s time just I’m not paying for them to do the work

I installed SWG again yesterday and went to resub just purely to see what freebies and awards I got but it's flipping over 9 pounds!!! No way hosay

Thats part of the fun, its the only MMORPG that after 2 years of playing i am still learning new things and having new experiences. Every other MMORPG (including Ultima and SWG) gets a bit boring after 6 months, it gets all very same-y!!

There is also a 30 day trial floating about at the moment, it takes at least a month to get on your feet so it may be worth trying it again? If you do, join OCUK corp, great for noobs!

WHYYYYYY :( :( :( :( :(

Vanguard is crap though, SWG wasn't!

There are plenty of good MMOs out there;

FFXI (Played twice (2004-2005 and Early 2006-June 2006)
WoW (Played twice (2005-2006 and Late 2006 to March 2007)
Guild Wars (Played twice (Early 2005-Late 2005 and Early 2007-Present)
EVE-Online
City of Heroes
Anarchy Online

They're all really good. LOTRO:O looks interesting too.
