Shame one of the newer/cheaper alternatives doesn't offer the historical bandwidth feature. eg: The Amplifi units...It seems like the OP has found what they need anyway.

I did maths A-Level sometime ago, but I'm still fairly sure £99 (for the Amplifi Instant Home Mesh) is significantly less than £229 (for the Google Wifi Mesh)...The Amplifi twin pack is roughly £60 more than the Google Wi-Fi twin pack, you've spent quite a lot of time asking the question that you already know the answer to![]()
On offer at moment for £99 down from £199Hmm that £99 is an anomaly in terms of other prices, if it's legit then it's a bargain.

In truth, it’s a dreadful product.
You've got the nest variant have you? And that of course has all the same usage stats over different periods that I like, along with better performance than the older Google Wi-Fi units.I can confirm that Google Nest WiFi does show live stats for wired and wireless devices. Currently the main hog is the Chromecast Ultra at around 50 mbs as my wife is using it for Stadia.
Hard disagree. It was too expensive at launch and not marketed very well. It's a fairly niche product but it's been working well for me.
Well, that’s the wonder of choice. But if it truly does what they say it does why isn’t it competing at £299 with the Google product? It’s not because it’s badly marketed, it’s because it’s a poor product. When they’re selling them off at half-price (and that’s an already heavily discounted price) alarm bells should be ringing LOUD.

What do you think of the nest one? I wouldn't use the automation!
Thanks...I like it. It was very easy to set up though it took a while for the firmware updates to complete. We have one point in the kitchen which the family loves as they use the assistant and play music on it. That point projects a nice field in the garden too. One niggle I had was the lack of features for power users, there's no VPN so I had to set one up myself on my raspberry pi.
Wifi performance is fine though my needs have reduced somewhat, I no longer own a laptop and only use a tablet. Anything that needs bandwidth (the chromcast ultra and raspberry pi) are wired in.
Thanks...
Yeh, the question is getting a three piece Google Wifi setup vs a two piece Nest setup. ie: They're supposed to cover approx the same area.
Are both your units downstairs? And they project/cover OK upstairs?
The nice thing about the Google units is they do offer ethernet ports for wired backhaul. But of course the Nest units are more modern and have higher spec's accordingly.
Do you have to use Nest software to install them? And once setup can you just use the supposedly superior Google Wifi App? eg: To look at device usage over periods (eg: An Xbox's usage over the past week).
