Anyone remember planetside?

ah yes but 9/10 noobs who use that damn lasher kill more vanu than nc/tr, especially as the splash comes backwards aswell. i hate people who use the lasher poorly and make a habit of "accidentally" shooting them in corridor shoot outs. besides they also give me more work in repairing the maxes they've just helped cripple :mad:

it's actually a weapon which requires a moderate level of skill to use effectively due to the high tking nature of the weapon

Not nearly as noobish as charging in with a jackhammer :p, or using the rocket launcher you could fire from behind cover! cant remember its name :p

The mag was the most fun tank by a country mile, i loved that thing, driving not gunning. And the Thresher was great too.
 
Its a shame really, i was still playing this game 6 months ago, till i kept getting a memory leak that forced white textures all over the place, then game crashing after 10 minutes, every 10 minutes.
 
you don't by any chance have a dual core amd lol, thatll do the crashing business on all SOE titles without the timing patch or telling the exe not to use the 2nd core
 
planetside is one of the best games i've ever played although i've not really got time for it any more. bfrs were the last straw for a lot of people, plus people became less organised, i can remember times when the whole server (vs) would be organised into mass battles to take over a continent.

when i left the game (still got a br25/cr5) it was all about kills and stat padding, people weren't interested in the tactical side of it anymore and most of the old cr5s had left and the new ones weren't interested in leading - mostly due to the stick they got failing or making decisions.

granted, it doesn't look very good, it's full of bugs and SOE seem to have abandoned it but i've not found a game that gives me that same kind of buzz. be it sneaking into a base to do a ninja hack or defending a red alert base with bfrs, aircraft, tanks and troops all incoming there's nothing like it.

in short try it! (all this talk about it is making me feel like installing it again!!)

aye our outfit now pretty much ignores cr5s and bar creating a zerg and OSing here and there, the cr5s spouting orders arent that great, though there are some gooduns knocking about now and then

though considering our outfit does have cr5s and some degree of respect among the vs, i dont get why our cr5s dont help out...guess like others they dont want the blame for messing up with the whole vs army

Nope, i'm on a P4 with HT though, i don't think that would cause many problems

But you still have to aim with the Jackhammer, can't just spam whole corridors. And the rocket launcher is called the Phoenix :)

You need to move back to an older driver version to solve it....problem being is when you solve the texture memory leak you then lose FPS. I think I would rather put up with having to restart the game every hour than only getting 20fps in a red alert zerg...

And organisation does still exist thats what we do in the alliance we also have regular events.
 
I play many other games at the same time, and i am not willing to put old drivers on my system, and lose frame rates on all those games for one game, and it's every 10-15 mins, not every hour.

And richie, the lasher does hit yes, but it does virtually no damage unless it hits directly, and the jackhammers need to aim is minimal :p. Nothing is lamer than the Phoenix too, hide in a building and guide the rocket out the door from complete safety! :D

If you change the ingame texture memory reserve ( found in the Advanced section of the graphics menu) to 64MB this will give you at least an hour and doens impact performance.

This place is turning into Forumside...must resist...arguing over pros and cons of empires...weapons... :p

But seriously, i love Planetside. Been playing since beta now, no other game has ever kept me interested like PS has. Long may it continue :)
