Someone in the distance was screaming like they were being murdered in a slasher movie here last night every time there was a clap of thunder, not sure if it was genuine or a drunk messing about.

Wouldn't be the first time - some people's pets make some pretty unearthly noises in response to thunder as well.

I personally love it. It makes me realise how insignificant we are to nature. That said I do get a little frisson when there's a particularly powerful clap of thunder.

I’m generally ok with thunder and lightning. When I was in central Sicily we got caught by surprise by thunder, lightning and massive hailstones. Wasn’t forecasted. Saw lightning hitting the ground 100m from where we were.

Then at my parents’ previous home, home backed onto a paddock. A tree was hit and split in two.

Love it but sure did wake me up last night! It was the sound of the rain/hail that first woke up me. Looked like it quite the storm with huge flashes.

Quite the opposite. I find Thunderstorms deeply calming/comforting when I'm indoors/car/sheltered at least.
I mean if I'm outdoors in the hills, out fishing or otherwise in a position that puts my at high risk of strikes, I do have respect for their danger. Few times I've been caught out on the top of Munros and such with storms rolling in only a few miles away, which have prompted rapid return to lower altitudes as to not present such a prime target.
However, generally theres nothing more comforting than sitting watching/listening to the flashes and deep rumbles of a passing storm.

Most people love em. They arent common. And make a great spectacle on occasion.

I'll always pop out to see a streak in the sky!

I used to love thunder storms.
I still like them now........... but less so when it is me who has to pay for any damage caused by an electrical storm or fallen tree etc. Same with snow storms.... i used to like them more when i didnt have to pay the heating bills or do the clean up.

Last night was impressive around our way. We had two fronts and about 45 minutes of sustained lightning and rolling thunderclaps.

Looks like we'll get some more today too.

Love a good thunderstorm. Missed one last night as I unusually slept through it.

My 5 year old loves them too and was upset she missed it this morning. She normally grabs a chair and will sit in the doorway/porch to watch it.

I love them. Sat at the window last night at about 2am watching the sky light up. As Freefaller says, it makes you feel very insignificant.

Walking up a Lakeland fell (Haystacks), had to lie on the ground in teeming rain to avoid being a conductor. A little scary but I do usually enjoy storms it shows how important we actually are.
