As title really. Just wondering if anyone has sent their non activated iPhone for repair and if so how did you go about it ? Any thing i need to know ?

It sais on the site non activated iPhones can still be sent for a repair but when i phoned up they didnt want to know.

Thanks,
Ryan

Its got one lazy pixel which is always green. I've only had it for about 6 weeks.

So what if they ask for my phone number or any other details?

Tell 'em to **** off.

They won't do. Just say you went to unlock it (shove the SIM it came with in) and from the activation screen noticed the dead pixel. Didn't bother to activate because of the dead pixel. ;)

I think you should just take it the the iPod bar, make up stories it just makes you look silly if any one finds out, explain the problem your having, show the iphone and allow them to do the job and see what happens.

You can book an appointment online and see them whenever is convenient.

I just sent mine off today, iphones seem to be amazingly crap when it comes to the headphone jack being dodgy, thats 2 in a row ive had now where its went faulty.

I just called gave them the serial told them what was wrong and they send out a box and ups sticker and bag to send them it back.

First time sending one back as the first iphone was an ameican version and got told that the american oversions use slightly different components so id have to get a family member living in america to rma it for me.

Just bought a second one a couple of months back and its developed a dodgy headphone socket..

Whats happened to your headphone jack?

And yours is an unactivated iPhone too ?

Yup, just restored it back to defaults, ive to call ups tomorrow to arrange pickup. On the phone they didn't seem concerned it was unactivated.

Just stopped working, plugged headphones in and no sound coming through them, tried the apple headphones from my original iphone and a third party jack (as apple in its infinite wisdom decided to recess it for some utterly retarded reason) and no luck. =/

Luckily an issue that was solved with the new 3G model. :)

Tbh i wouldnt expect an iphone to be sent in any other way. Just think of all the information that the engineers could look at on your phone. Best way to wipe it all and make sure its wiped is to just restore and unplug.

Fair point.

They can't prove anything if it has been restored to the activation screen. Just send it in, they can't refuse you. Just remember to put the SIM back in that it came with.

I just phoned up and have my repair all sorted. The box is on its way.

They asked for my number but i said i hadnt set the phone up yet.

Yipee.

I have my box to send it back in but i have a question. Should i keep the sim card in or not ?

I havent registered the oringial sim or anything so i would assume to put it back in but in the repair notes it reminds you several times not to leave your sim card in.

What are you doing Gerard ?

If the repair notes say don't leave a SIM in then don't. Simple really.

Didn't leave any sim in it, mine was collected monday and has been replaced according to the repair status, on its way back now. :)

Mine arrived back, looks like i got a brand new phone. Debating wether to flog it or use it again..something tells me if i use it again i'll run into the same problems with that bloody headphone jack.
