Anyone still gaming with a 939 cpu? :p

really? how odd. who'd want to buy a 939? :D

it's because of the chip support think out of the box they made some stonking fast chips that were very overclockable a lot of people still use 939 stuff and don't want to buy a new rig so they get replacement parts of auction.

if u got a good mobo, ram, cpu combo you'd fetch at least £100 minimum i seen a amd fx 57 go on auction last week for £180:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

recent one
AMD Athlon FX-60 , 2.6 GHz Socket 939 -MINT
Sold As Best OfferSold £150.00 LOL

yes that was just the cpu the price of a new phenom 2 x4 965:eek:

i sold my 3800x2, artic cooler,abit motherboard(via chipset,pci express) and 4-512mb corsair ram

All for £160 on fleebay. Couldn't believe it! Was expecting £80ish

Yeah the prices are stupidly high. I had he bright idea of trying to get my hands onto a cheap x2 or even nice little FX for a cheap and cheerful upgrade but the prices were shocking. Even the x2s were close to £100 when i checked and i didnt even bother with the FXs after.

Pity the basic athlon 64s arent worth much though so when i eventually get around to flogging mine it wont be worth jack.

Prices of Skt 939 are stupidly high! I just sold an opteron 185 on the bay for 125 notes!! It was just sitting in my loft doing nothing. My honest opinion is that if you dont have a lot of cash sell off your current 939 stuff and go with some newer AMD AM3 kit. Its relatively cheap ( I was surprised at the actual cost ). I mean if you allready have the 260 the rest of the system wouldnt costs loads at all. A quad core AM3 chip sets you back about £81 on OCUK they are for nothing!!

still gaming on 939

I'm still gaming on a 939, went from opti 146 at 2500mhz with a 7900gt 256mb to a 3800+ x2 at 2500mhz with a 8800gt 512mb play at 1280x1024 or there abouts, modern warfare 1 + 2, lfd 2, fallout 3, crysis, grid etc.
Have £1500 to spend on a complete new system when i feel i need to!
Will give my current rig to my son eventually!
Funny current issue of custom pc have upgrade article on 939 socket rig and recommend extra ram over gpu change they had 320mb 8800gts i think.
I won't be upgrading until i can't play what i want.
Will wait until find out which platform has best future, i7- i5 or am3, have become attached to my 939 rig.

Just goes to show the 939 can still cut the mustard at low resolutions, I loved my 939 set up, bought it when I left the missus lol but got the urge to upgrade a while ago and havnt looked back! The bank account knows it to cos pc's aint cheap.

Nice! I have a 3800 x2, asus a8n-e mobo, 3gig ram.

If I could get £160, I'd be rolling on the floor laughing, and ordering a new system for only a few notes more :p Having said that, with my luck I'll put it all on the bay, it'll go for £20 and I'll have no PC :p

i have to join the 939 appreciation club, i had a 3800x2 @ 2.55ghz before current machine with 3850 512mb, 2gb ram n an rdx200 board. BRILLIANT machine. Ran everything i threw at it inc. Sup com, grid, crysis, cod4, pro street and devil may cry 4 all mid to max settings at 1440x900. 8.5k in 3dm06 too. I saw custom pc thing bout gtx260, seems gd plan if u dnt wana blow out shed loads.

I must say

Going from a 4200 dual to a 550 x2 phenom was a master hit.
It really made my old 8800 card fly along, I think I was subject to a cpu bottle neck all along.
If I recall I went from 20k ish to 40k ish in 2001 3d mark with the same card just a new cpu set up ect:confused:

Looks like I'll have done well twice by selling 939 chips. Got silly money for my X2 4600+ 2 years ago. Looks like I'll get silly money again for selling the 4200+ from my spare rig on the bay.

939 funded my upgrade to AM2 / DDR2. It may fund another upgrade shortly. Maybe Athlon II / Phenom II and DDR3 (if I don't manage to unlock the Deneb Athlon 5000+ I have).

Still play a few older games that are installed on my second rig. Athlon 64 4000 s939, 2gb pc3200 and a geforce 8800gts 640.

I was planning to upgrade in the next two or three months.

Currently have an Athlon 64 X2 4800+ with 4 GB of Corsair XMS DDR 400 RAM on an Asus A8V-VM mobo with a GeForce 7900 GT card.

Any idea what that might be worth?

log into auction site, search for said item, scroll down on the left look for show completed listings, et voila you can now see how much they sold for in the last 2 month period.

just checked your looking at £240 easily if you advertise the items well especially the processor people that miss out important details on them end up getting next to nothing

put the model number, take close up pics, everything u can think of people want to know.

also advertise it will be well packed in a box things like that can boosts sales so much

My old PC with a 4200 X2 still is capable of light gaming along with the 3850 512MB in the system. For a 720p LCD is still a capable system :)

Would you suggest selling the CPU and Mobo separately?
