Anyone still gaming with a 939 cpu? :p

Thanks :)

Would you suggest selling the CPU and Mobo separately?

yes always break a system up as there might be someone out there with a broken part that needs one very bad and will pay over the odds for it.

when selling memory you will get a much better price if u run mem test86 for at least 4 hours and post a pic of the screen.

when selling cpu take a pic of cpu-id program

when selling mobo take a pic of whole system working

and in general show a pic of the part and the post screen/ windows if possible

after selling quite a few old bits on there recently i find that boosts sales quite dramatically

Yes. I bought the 4200 bundled with a motherboard and it cost less than 4200s alone were going for at the time. People looking to squeeze the best out of their 939 system are usually just looking for the CPU, RAM or whatever.

Hmm, the 3800+ x2 is going for £35.

A complete system, x2 3800, 3gig ram, asrock mobo... 20 bids... £77.

It's looking like a lottery here. If I only get £77 for it I'd be without a PC :p

uR LOOKING AT THE REASON WHY MOST BIDS GET 50% INCREASES IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES
3 GIG OF RAM (WHAT BRAND MAKES A DIFFERENCE)
CPU 3800+ NEVER SELLS FOR MUCH 4000 SERIES MAKE a lot MORE BY UPTO 50%
ASROCK MOBO'S NEVER SELL FOR MUCH ON EBAY

OK, maybe I'll mention that the chip OC's to 2.8 effortlessly on air. Maybe that'll work :p

As for the memory, 2x 512 TwinMos/WinBond (ch5); 2x KVR 1gb. Both DDR400 modules.

My mobo is an Asus A8n-e with the northbridge fan taken off and a Zalman heatsink installed in its place.

Wonder how much that could all fetch?

Athlon 64 3700+ checking in!

It's lasted bloomin' ages but the old girl is just a bit too slow for me these days. Think I'll go i5/i7 in a couple of months.

My 939 2GHz Athlon x2 served me well, think I had the 2nd version to come out Toledo or something, before AM2 was released and it played almost every game without a problem. Cod4 on full, crysis played decent, its a shame my board packed in, I prob still be using it now, I was until Sept 09. from this point I wouldn't bother upgrading a 939 board, save the cash get a new system, it would bottleneck and would defo struggle on these new released games.

I'm on a 3800+ single core and with it a hd4850 it plays everything I want at 1920x1080. Although in L4D2 everything is maxed exept 'effects' which is low because it is CPU dependent.
Thing is though there's a gazillion older games that I haven't played yet so I can keep myself busy playing those for another year I reckon.

Dual core 939 prices are stupid because I'd happily spend £30-40 but not twice that.

Definitaly going to go quad core for the next upgrade now that a few games have support for it. Should last as long as the dual core intels have too.

I just upgraded from a 939 system. It was more than capable with an 8800gtx and the cpu was only a 3200.

The only reason i upgraded to a new rig was because of the cost of second hand ddr and a dual core cpu was £300+ and that is absolutely ridiculous.

I'd upgrade the CPU it's probably bottlenecking your 8800 even now. I went from a skt 939 a while ago and my graphics card didnt show up for a while. Wow what a difference, even without the new GPU.

I think if you've lasted this long on 939 and you're into gaming then now would be the time for an upgrade.

I'm hoping I can squeeze another year out my e6300.

edit: That said I can play Left 4 Dead 2 at 720p on a single core, clocked opteron with a 3850 inside it no problems.

My gaming rigg is a8n deluxe sli with X2 4800+ clocked to 2.6. 4gb ram 2x 8800GTs. Still flies along on 22" widescreen. Even Crysis if you go easy on the settings. Cod6 no problem. Key is to turn off FPS counter!

Only GTA 4 has been a dog to get running smoothly. Still haven't cracked it.

Upgrade can't be far away, but this rig has been fantastic. Just seems a lot of money to upgrade a perfectly serviocable rig which hasn't been beaten by any game yet. I wonder if PC technology is plateauing a bit in terms of games.

How come X Box's and PS3s play latest games so smoothly on crappy hardware?

It's not just crysis, any modern game will probably chug along with a 3800x2.

I had an x2 3800+ running at 2.8ghz with an 8800GT. The only games that it didnt like much were GTA4 and Crysis in some parts. I still completed it in high settings though on hardest.

Sup commander used to be unplayable on big maps

Was an amazing chip that lasted me many years before moving to a Q6600. Hopefully this chip will last a few more

You could sell your system for a lot though :p

Motherboard - 40 odd quid I guess
CPU- 100 odd
8800gt - 40-50 quid each
4gb DDR - **** loads :D Not sure exactly how much

You could potentially make over 300 quid which could easily fund a new system which performs 10 times better :)
