I just pulled the trigger my upgrade itch was driving me madi'm building a totally new system so if it's no faster for me i'll sell it hopefully
he's at 3 x 1440p screens, there will be an upliftDepends. At 4k the difference is next to nothing.

so? your saying 1x4k is harder to render than 3x1440 screens smoothly ?You know you're saying 3x
2560x1440x3 = 11m pixels
3840x2160 = 8m pixels
It's more to render than 4K

I'm interested to see how your new chip performs, I currently have a 5800x3d with a 4080 and play sim racing with triple 1440p monitors. Everything runs ok but I also play DCS and IL2 in VR so def need more gruntmy 9800x3d just arrived, installed everything and I can tell in some games my fps jump over 50fps, in other 30fps but i can see that does frames are more stable compare to when i had 5800x3d.
what resolution is this at and what games?my 9800x3d just arrived, installed everything and I can tell in some games my fps jump over 50fps, in other 30fps but i can see that does frames are more stable compare to when i had 5800x3d.
3440x1440/4090 games EFT and Squad, for EFT before i had below 100fps and 60fps when ads with a scope, now it's 160-140fps. for Squad before i had to run this game with frame generation to have stable 80-100fps with mixed settings, now without frame generation maxed out +160fps, on offline server i am hitting 240fps max cap.what resolution is this at and what games?
The FoV for 3 displays is much higher than just one, so for CPU it will also be tougher than a simple 4k.You know you're saying 3x

50 fps uplift for 1440p is pretty impressive, thats a big jump in performance3440x1440/4090 games EFT and Squad, for EFT before i had below 100fps and 60fps when ads with a scope, now it's 160-140fps. for Squad before i had to run this game with frame generation to have stable 80-100fps with mixed settings, now without frame generation maxed out +160fps, on offline server i am hitting 240fps max cap.
I know its on 1440p but I would have still expected quite a big leap as its 2 whole generationsI upgraded from 5800x3d to 9800x3d
I have a 4080 and game on 1440p OLED
I'll be honest it's not a massive difference but it certainly better. Also I sold my old AM4 mobo, cpu and memory on eBay for a good price and this paid for a large amount of the upgrade. The 5800x3d is still a good CPU and demands good money so should help with the budget. But happy I finally jumped to AM5 and will be able to get a 5000 or 6000 series GPU oneday without having to replace the whole PC

Whag sort of performance gains are you getting?
cpu's only really matter now for 1080p gaming or increasing the 1% lows. On 1440p they can still have a bit of an affect for average fps but its still mainly limited by GPU.It all depends on the games your playing.
I went 5600 to 5700x3d and gained about 50fps in the games squads going to about 120fps.
I now have a 13900k and still just get 120fps.
Before all this I had a 7800x3d that’s died… but on that cpu I got about 120fps..
This is all at native 1440 no DLSS
Modern CPU’s have almost hit a plateau where no matter how fast they are gpu’s are holding them back or at least there the limiting factor.
I hate hardware unboxed but they did a video showing the affects of cpus on games with the same GPU and and the actual difference what your at 1440 to 4k in most cases if little to nothing
this statement...cpu's only really matter now for 1080p gaming or increasing the 1% lows. On 1440p they can still have a bit of an affect for average fps but its still mainly limited by GPU.
for 4k gaming there is almost difference and its entirely GPU
and this one...I know its on 1440p but I would have still expected quite a big leap as its 2 whole generations
