Anyone use home cleaning services?

As others have said, they are there to clean, not tidy IMO
Indeed. Use having a cleaner as an excuse to tidy before they come.

Good cleaners and good cleaning companies are easy to come by (though them having availability is not), the issue is that £15 per hour is the minimum to pay.

You have to consider that its not £15 per hour or wharveer you pay as the driving time is unpaid. When you even it out, they may lose an hours pay just driving between sites, setting up etc. Now put that as £11 per hour and they are on basically nothing is they are only paid when at a clients property.

Was thinking it would be up to 20 pounds an hour.

This is kind of what I expected. The hourly cost would bake in a 'call out' fee.

Did do a look around.
Prices 'from'..14.99 an hour.

2 hours a fortnight would be what I'd be after. Need to think of if it's worth it. Ie.. How much of my time will it save!

How did you get on with this? Did you find a company?

Yeah a local little company.
I pay 27 a time.
And that's 1.5hrs every 2 weeks. So it's only 54 a month.

Couldn't find anything cheaper.

The robot vacuum keeps things in check.

She cleans bathroom (in Bath/toilet), wipes windowsills without moving stuff much, kitchen (including cooker top, it's gas cooker so a pain to clean), vacuums everywhere, mops the floors downstairs.

Also makes me keep the house a bit tidier as I know I need to put everything away before she comes.

1.5 hours is fine as we have a smallish 3 bed detached, no kids but a dog who molts a lot. That's the main job for the robot! To keep on top of that!

Oh, it's been great too.
I don't have to think about the cleaning. It's totally worth it to me to pay 50 a month to not have
1) the mental burden
2) the actual job.

She does it better, quicker than me.
I don't have to think "should I do the cleaning or go out for the morning? "

good stuff. £18 per hour is a reasonable rate too. is she self employed or an employee of a company?

Wouldn't be surprised if there's some tax dodge going on if I'm honest. :D

I pay by BT to someone, who has a few cleaners she employs.
So I normally get my "usual" cleaner. But sometimes I'll get a random one.

I've never seen the owner. Was a Facebook recommendation from local area group.
Most others were over 30 or (worse) required an every week commitment. Every week is excessive for us

We've recently started getting a cleaner round and it's been really good.

We've got a fairly large house with 2 adults 1 child and a cat.

We have a team of 2 women round every fortnight and they spend about 1.5 hours here so 3 'man hours' and they clean all 3 bathrooms, kitchen and then hover and mop all the floors, make all the beds and generally tidy up and put stuff away.

We pay £20 an hour so it's £60 a fortnight and i've found it really worth while for us anyway, i wish i'd been doing it for years.

Yeah. For me I have 2 days off a week.
I absolutely do not want to spend a morning (because that's what it'll take me) and thus 1/4 of my weekend cleaning.
Or being grumpy because I didn't do and house looks a state.

For just over 50 a month when you earn a decent salary it's well worth it.

Yeah totally, i've been ill for quite a while now with long covid so i just physically can't do it anymore but even if i were able the cleaners can blitz the whole house in 90 minutes but it'd take me a full day so like you say if you can afford it it seems like a no brainer to free up so much time.

We used to have a cleaner and loved it. I think it was £27 a go and she did two hours. Unfortunately, she didn't actually need to work and stopped. Now, it just doesn't get done very often as we can't be arsed. I really miss her (Lucy)

I can recommend a good cleaning company in Woking, however their minimum charge is more than double what you paid
