They are a building supplier,

I just wondered how they work I plan to give them a ring but it's hard to get ahold of someone it seems and they don't reply to emails. May have to drive down to their shop.

Bit of random question but anyone used them before? how do they work can you actually go down to their warehouses to buy stuff?

Looking to buy some insulation, rockwool to be precise and I don't need loads of it just like 1-2 bags. Most suppliers make you bulk order or charge you 20 quid delivery for a bag of rockwool which isn't THAT big and doesn't weigh that much...

Yep, bought a tonne of sand, some cement and some patio slabs from them about a year ago.

They're a typical builders merchant (well our one is at least) in that you drive in there and think you've take a wrong turn because you're in the yard with forklifts all over the place and bulk bags piled all over the place. There's a tiny office in the corner where where you can order your bits and bobs. The guy in our store was very helpful as I think it was obvious I wasn't an expert patio layer!

They're open to trade and public but your best off just going down to the yard.

They're expensive mind, you'd probably be better off using a diy merchants like b&q or wickes.

Got an account at jewson b&q trade point is cheaper and local independent builders merchant cheaper again

Sweet I will have to go down there and take a look.

They're ok, Travis Perkins is also ok. You need to haggle them down on price or they'll try and rip you off though, they've priced some stuff up at 3 or 4 times what I actually paid for it in the end before.

I don't rate tradepoint or wickes at all, or any of the DIY sheds.

Best overall is the independent merchants round here.

I use jewsons all the time never accept the price they give you. What i always do is take 20% off and tell them i paid that amount last time. always works.

I think you can get money off if your with o2 at the moment but not sure if there's a minimum spend or anything.

I just had a new roof built so needed tons of insulation, B&Q were the cheapest I could find anywhere as they sell subsidised rolls for DIY use only. Jewsons always seem to be a massive rip off, I am not quite sure why anybody uses them unless the discounts get very large with bulk.

B&Q and Wickes have got massive piles of Rockwool

I need the panels not rolls.

I am a sound engineer and Rockwool is very good to treat acoustic problems in a recording room.

Otherwise I would buy off bnq etc I chedk all of major ones homebase wickes etc none sell rockwool RW3 50mm thickness (Specifically because its sound absorbing properties are best)

unless someone knows any other major home DIY shops that would be good so I can check them out.

Used them last year for getting sleepers for the garden - superb service and the cheapest we could find locally!

Found the sleepers cheaper somewhere down in England but they charged the delivery by the mile! :/

Yep, Wickes do the dense rockwool slabs (like hard felt)

hmm, only 30mm, thought these were 50mm?

Christ they are expensive  doubled in price since I looked,
that's a rip off for spun glass

edit:
don't buy it, google "Acoustic Slab Insulation",
you'll find a few suppliers who will deliver and the slabs are cheaper
