Anyone who went Quad wished they had stayed with Duo?

I went from a P4 3.6 to a Q6600 and I've definitely slowed down.
Programs open up a tad quicker (Photoshop) but thats it.
Multi tasking doesn't seem to have improved.

On a P4 I'd be working in Coreldraw, Photoshop, burning a DVD, downloading etc.
On a Q6600 I expected to be able to use Quickpar or Winrar while burning but my DVD light goes on and off meaning its trying to catch up.

I must admit I've got a superb system, Q6600, Gigabyte GA P35, 4 gig Geil 6400, etc and a new 24" Samsung monitor but I do feel like I'm slower.

Sounds like your hard drives are the bottleneck in your system.

I run 5 drives in raid 0, just about keeps up with my workload when I'm properly multitasking. :)

If any of us had any real sense, we woudnt be keeping buying second hand E6600's or buying E6850's or even going Q6600, if you really want something worthwhile then just buy an E2140 clock it the best you can, then buy a Penryn when they are readily available, that way you probally wont loose out on CPU depreciation.

I'm sure Bioshock & Surpreme Commander are playable on an overclocked E2140 etc, I really do ask the question to myself why did I buy an E6600, E6850, Q6600 & the simple matter of the fact is purely because of the enthusiast fact & to be honest life would be pretty boring if everyone did the same old thing woudnt it? Everyone with E2140's nah thats boring, but very good for those who are on a tight budget.

Thats my opinion on things.

Speak for yourself, I don't regret going quad at all, in fact I'm amazed I didn't do it sooner.

Yorkfield is only slightly faster than kentsfield and clock for clock at the things I use it for, in most cases it will be unnoticeable. Sure the one or two apps that have sse4a enhancements will fly but I don't spend all my time converting things to divx.

The only thing that 45nm brings to the table of interest to me is higher clocks and cooler running temps thanks to 45nm.
