Anything like FF7 but for pc thats got high res gfx?

It's dog turd.

The OP should find the older FFs and maybe even Chrono Trigger. Legally emulated. You must... own the original games technically.

And the original consoles :)

My snes is still in my dad's loft afaik, along with the Super Scope. Mole Patrol for the win :p

It's not exactly modern, but have you played Planescape: Torment? Has an excellent story, and still looks good with the widescreen/high-res mod applied. Tricky to get hold of though, at least for a reasonable price.

There is a mod for FF7 (PC) that lets you play high res, with AA added.

I would have tried it myself but my stupid DVD drive wont let me read CD's so i cant try it till i get a new one lol (can read DVD's fine, but FF7 came on cd's :( ).

Think he's referring to the epic scale of the storyline, which is magnified and exposed through superb characters. A real rarity in a game. Most other RPGs have a storyline that feels as though it was tacked together from bits of CGI they had lying round. They don't feel as 'big' because their characters are not as well developed as FF7's, or as humanly weak; you don't get the sense that there is any real danger to them.

Yes, that makes a lot more sense now.
Considering, FF7 is my favorite game of all time :)

care to explain why? i was hoping to buy it when it comes out on PC, since none of the other final fantasy style games seem to be comming out on PC, like FF13 which as far as i know is the first to not be playstation exclusive, as its comming out on xbox, but its still not going to come out on PC.

Probably because of the issues The Last Remnant has on the Xbox 360. It suffers from some heavy framerate drops and texture pop-in on the battle mode. If you can get past these graphical issues then it is actually quite a good game. This is afterall the first RPG that Square-Enix developed using the Unreal 3 engine, so it is kind of to be expected. Still, it doesn't make it sound promising on the PC or PS3 ports though, but we will have to wait and see.

There is a Breath of Fire game on pc (BOF4 IIRC?), that has nice graphics and should fill your JRPG needs nicely. Might be tricky to find though, and I don't think it works on Vista (couldnt get it to work on mine anyway).

Others you could try are Grandia and Silver, I think the Suikoden games were also ported to PC but again could be difficult to find.

Hmm Legend of Heroes series looks nice but i don't think there's a English version

I'm a huge fan of falcom's jrpg's but indeed the Legend of Heroes series is unlikely to ever see the light of day in English. However there are fan translation patches for the majority of the Ys games.

Ys Complete and Ys Felghana in particular are well worth picking up.

ermm..... why do you care about the graphics? FF7 is the BEST, if you haven't played it start now, sure it's a bit blocky but it's art style is still amazing, sound is still amazing and the cinematics are still great.

I am playing ff7 at the mo, which ill keep playing on and off but id prefer something more up to date, yes ff7 was good and is up to now but come on times have changed, theres other games out now that are probably considered way past ff7 now.

Well in the 11 years since FF7, your not exactly going to find a lot of JRPG games for the PC aside from the some that have already been mentioned, most of which are old themselves. You can either catch up on the console side of things, or just wait until The Last Remnant is out for the PC, or whatever else is decided to come on this platform.

aaron_yume mentioned Falcom games and I can say that a lot of them are very good, (The Ys series especially) and the company is is quite rare in that they primarily develop RPGs for the PC platform, only problem is they barely get an official Western release, and so its down to fan made English translation patches.

Although The Last Remnant didn't get a very nice review from 1UP. So I'm not holding my breathe for that game anymore.

Yeah there was one game i liked from Falcom but its jap so aint interested, it has to be english.

Sisters niece has a ps2 so im lookin into ps2 Jrpg games also might buy some 2nd hand games for ps2 and use a emulator so i can play em at home instead of visiting sisters all the time.

If you can manage to find Ys I & II Complete (I think it requires an English patch as well), I'm sure that may be suitable for you. The game can be fully controlled with the mouse. Graphically, its like a throwback to the SNES JRPG days with 16-bit-like sprites.

In any other genre I'd agree with you, but Jrpg's have advanced hardly at all. The combat is different in the newest final fantasy, but not nessacarily better or even that much more involving. The story (one of, if not THE major elements is timeless ofc.), the only thing you get is better graphics - but don't be that shallow, give it some time and immersion will set in.

The reason I hate system shock 2 isn't the graphics they're fine, it's the gameplay which has aged massively and hence just isn't as fun as other titles around now.
