Anything remotely fun around the 20k mark?

It isn't - but people love to dramatise. The wet belt 1.0 are 10 year / 100k miles.

It's irrelevant and off topic however, as for £20k and fun, I don't imagine the OP will be looking at a 1.0 Fiesta.
I'm only going off what he said, I've not fact checked. A 1.0 litre fiesta does fit half of his criteria though, under 20k  .

Might as well just get the M140i or the M240i then, which will be more fun and have largely the same dashboard. Which is my point. It's just feels like a larger version of those rather than a clear step up.

M140i Shadow Edition with a MPE is the front runner at the moment but trying to find one isn't as easy.

All the cars are great that have been mentioned but the realisation is don't need a massive car like the 5 Series or Stinger for a daily.

Daily routine is basic for kids school drop and a short dual carriageway blast amongst more school run traffic. A lot of cars would be wasted on me.

The OH can have any funds saved if stick to the budget to upgrade hers to carry on being the family wagon SUV.

There is also the chance of finding a decent spec M135i for a little bit less.

I had the Alfa Giulia Veloce for about 4 years for my last car. I loved it, but the battery charging system is flawed. As with a lot of modern cars, the battery doesnt charge all the time. in the Alfa, it simply doesnt charge enough and runs the battery quite low. if your only doing 5 miles a day (i have a 7 mile commute, but didnt use it much at weekends) it will be problematic. When the battery is too low. the car disables the rear demister, so save power... you can use the heated seats and heated steering wheel though.

So easily fixed with a software update, but they couldnt be bothered, or couldnt for "efficiency" reasons. maybe theyve fixed in now, but it drove me mad. Other than that, its a really nice car.

I had zero confidence in the dealer network that they would be able to fix it if it went wrong, but hopefully the independents have a bit of experience with them now.

I drive a 128ti now, nice car... more efficiency ******** though, tyres are inflated so hard, some people were only getting 4000 miles out of the fronts as they are worn in the centre. i dropped mine on day 1, still only got 7000 miles out of them. Now dropped it more, and the drive is much better. faff to get the car to stop whinging about low tyre pressures, but got there in the end.

i have a car allowance from work, which means the car has to meet some requirements, which arnt a problem. a fiesta was deemed to be too small, else i'd have a fiesta ST

Yep all the sensors for minor things and unnecessary functions in modern cars can cause more problems than they solve. Eventually tyre pressure sensors break and wont shut up. Sometimes it's best to just have someone disable this stuff.

Another thing which loves to cause problems is adblue etc. Just have it mapped out and avoid a big bill later.

I dont know what your trying to show me

That car above was imported from Japan by a garage. I have a clubsport and i recognise the car was for sale at a garage in leeds originally. Same as a uk clubsport just wont have a numbered plaque
Oh I misread - I thought you said all Clubsports are imports from Japan ;)

Anyway, why mess around with a mapped Jap import when you can get a tidy UK, 1 owner 7.5 Perf?
Yes the Clubsport will be better, but the 7.5 GTI is hardly a turd..

Do not compare a gti performance and a clubsport they are way different

For a start the gti has the weaker engine and an is20 turbo

The clubsport has the cjxe golf r engine and the is38
