Aorus Owner's Lounge

Got myself the X3 Plus. :)

I am loving it so far, I think I've had some issues with WiFi but I think that is due to my WiFi being at the other end of the house and it is not picking it up. Which is strange as my mobile phone picks it up fine.

I am going to either look at getting a WiFi extender, or getting a mini USB network adaptor to see if that fixes it.

I have noticed the wifi is *very* short range.
All my other units (got a few laptops, tablets and phones) work fine all over the house and the x3 does in the same room.
Next room (plasterboard walls) drops to about 13mbs from 270. Different floor won't work.

Getting either isn't great. There's no reason why it's so short range compared to others.
It's almost as if the antenna isn't connected.
However if you need an answer, wifi dongle is better. Range extenders hit throughout as they need to receive and then resend the data so even one will effectively half speed.
Alternative is a power line wifi access point .

Hi, Can Atom80 or another Aorus rep help. In moving my Aorus X7 G-Sync laptop between work and home, I have discovered that one of the screws that hold the base plate on has worked loose and is not lost (All other screws are present and the back plate has never been removed). Is it possible to buy a replacement screw or would this be covered by the warranty?

If you contact Customer Support via www.aorus.com they should be able to help you out.

Click "support" and "contact us"

Was it the V5 CF1? Interesting thing to note I don't think I'd like to stick a mini USB in such a small / sleek little machine all the time :)

We have had a few reports about Wireless isuses with the Intel AC 7265 wireless adapter. A quick google search will show you that multiple brands/models have had the same issues. Because they are so few and far between, we generally deal with them on a case by case basis. If you are having Wifi connectivity/range issues we will do what we can to help you get it sorted out.

It is also worth noting that because of this we have changed to the Intel AC 8260 adapter on all our new models.

Thanks!

Is there any chance to order a custom keyboard, or to find a manufacturer of compatible keyboards? I've bought Aorus x3 plus v5, and while I'm quite happy about the hardware (especially after upgrading the memory to 32GB and adding an extra 512GB SSD for more games), the keyboard gives me quite a pain. I don't need the useless block of macro keys on the left hand side, I want Esc and Ctrl to be the leftmost top and bottom keys, also I would like to have PgUp/PgDn/Home/End as separate hardware keys on the right hand side, and if possible Enter/Shift/Backspace reshaped. In short, it's been over a month already and still, blind typing on this laptop feels like I've got all my fingers broken in multiple places. So I would be extremely happy to pay for a different keyboard.

Thread watching slightly as will be in the market for a laptop this summer perhaps (thinking new mobile gfx cards...)

Re: wifi issues at the edge of range, its worth getting it improved as you'll get better connectivity, transfer rates etc. I can really recommend the powerline kits with wifi extenders that you can get. The laptop/tablet should switch to the stronger network as you go out of range of the other, and I've found it to work well without a big increase in ping or anything. Plus, if its in the right place you can use an ethernet cable :)

Also loitering...... Any rumours on a drop date for the x7 DT?

Also any speculation on price beyond my own guess of 'eye watering'?

I'm waiting for full X7 DT reviews also as it's by far the most aesthetically appealing of the new GTX 980 desktop chipped Notebooks I've yet to see.

Big Lamborghini style bricks and Dragon graphics aren't really my thing.

Hi Atom,

Cheers for arranging this. I've been speaking with Bailey and have just posted the laptop back to OCUK minus the extra drive.

Many thanks again for your help - much appreciated as always!

Cheers

I think mine is a bit short. With line of sight I get 280mb at 3 meters but at about 10 meters it's 11mb (and jumping between 5.5 - 22mb).

It the wifi card a PCI-E expansion card?

Hey there,

Unfortunately we don't currently have customer keyboard layouts. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope your fingers get used to the new layout soon!
