Just wanted to let you know my x5v7 cf1 has arrived, just setting it up as I type. Sorry for hassling you regarding delivery, i know you're not directly responsible for the information you relay but in future i think lessons could be learnt.

first impressions are good, the screen seems pretty nice but i am used to my messed up 1080p gigabyte screen! Keyboard seems good, I've tested all the keys and they respond well, no issues like other users of the x5v6 seem to have had. They have a fair amount of travel and good feed back. most of the keys sound good there are a few exceptions like the v and b key and the numpad 7 & 4 which sound different when taped but not so much that it matters, think it might have something to do with their proximity to the space key and enter key respectively.

For those interested in bench marks i'm not the right person, i don't game but use these kinds of laptops for graphics/cad work, so long as it gets the job done with out blowing up like my W series Thinkpad i'm a happy camper!

p.s the UK keyboard does not have the Blue and Red symbols.

@Atom80 It looks like the US and UK dates are pretty much aligned. I was wondering when you guys were receiving the x7 v7 4k version. I've heard mid-July but unfortunately the rep on the US site is very unresponsive, so I figured I'd ask you. We have preorders available for multiple x5 and x7 models but none of them are with a 4k screen yet.


Hi Derek - schedule should be similar in UK and USA and yes we expect X7 all variants mid-end of July. Not sure on what specs USA have "chosen", but all our options are now live with OCUK.

Last update on the OP was 5/18 and there have been maybe only a couple posts since then. Are sales just not as good in the US? I find it surprising how little presence there is on their own forum, let alone the complete absence on other popular forums such as NBR. I'm a little jealous of the UK on this one. :-)

Im so sad that it doesn't release at the same time than the UK, Ive been waiting for it since may ^^. I wish I could order it directly from Aorus :D. I'm trying to build some hype about the x5 V7 on French forums so maybe it will have a bit more attention and maybe will LDLC or other suppliers will order it sooner!

OcUK ships abroad as long as you don't mind a different keyboard layout. even vat can be adjusted

So I posted a few months ago about my X7V6 which is still going great. However I seem to have developed an issue with the wireless connection, it seems to lock up about once a day. This can be solved by a restart or toggling wifi off/on, but I'd rather not have it happen.

I've reinstalled drivers but hasn't made a difference. I've also done a clean Win10 install. When the issue arises Windows trouble shooter can't find any problems, wifi remains connected, just not getting any data through. I've tried other devices when this occurs to confirm it's not the router, and its not - other devices continue to work correctly.

I didn't read back through 60 odd pages to see if I could find a solution, sorry for being lazy, but if anyone has come across a similar problem I'd appreciate your advice.

Have you tried to use just the bare Killer driver alone (without their software crap)? In most cases its the Killer suite that ends up being the cause of it. I'm using a beta/unofficial driver i got through a friend and thats working out fine without the software suite. Also, it may help if you disable or take out the bluetooth driver. Killer seems to have quite a few problems with that interfering with network connectivity

I agree with you.

When I did a fresh install on my X5 I used the drivers in windows and haven't updated them. Working fine so far.

Thanks for the replies. Yes definitely using the bare drivers, one of the first things I did was remove the Killer suite. I'll try disabling Bluetooth and see what happens.

Well I finally announce defeat. Even Craving for some more insights on x5 vs x7 4K, my laptop was so unusable I had no choice but to invest in the x5 v7 now (hope I don't regret a 15" 4k against a 17"... I shall be a proud owner in a few days and hopefully be able to give constructive insights about it.

LAST question (before the next one... ;)) would some engraving on the keys reveal the light under? Meaning, it is only a thin layer of black paint on the keys right? (Main plastic is transparent?)
Don't need to tell me the risk to void warranty on the keyboard, I'm fully aware of it and just try to see what could be achievable.

I would very much like to be part of any available beta related to the X5 v7 (If possible). I have also quite a few friends that are very qualified to help in that matter, if that should be welcome.

I hate the fact that i got the X7v6 while waiting for the V7 to be released. Kinda bummed that it took quite a long time for the V7 to be released to the market. Oh well

I was lucky enough to just discover Aorus 2weeks ago!

My timing seems pretty great :D
 
Well, here is a post I never wanted to post. My 2? Week old aorus is dead.

I was playing black desert online at the desk with the power plugged in at stock settings in "game mode" fan profile with keyboard mouse and mic plugged in.

All was great for about 6 hours a few minor mmo stutters but we all got those. Then during a semi intensive moment the fans appeared (by sound) to stop, my frames went to about 3fps and a second later the system turned off. Sadly it won't come back on :(

@Atom80 would it be advised I remove the battery and plug it back in? Or shall I just leave it :)?

Will update RMA thread now.

Such a shame :( booked time off work to relax and game. Due to get my vive tomorrow aswell so was really looking forward to getting on that but now won't be able too.

Hmm yes good timing indeed. Fakk the new keyboard design and the inclusion of a new DAC makes me wanna dump my v6 for the v7. But no 1080p IPS option :(

Oh Dear, not sounding good.

You can try disconnecting battery and reconnecting and seeing if that has any effect, if not then please return to OCUK for exchange to new unit - ie, don't send in for repair.
