One more bit of advice would be appreciated. Have looked in TS and other places but cant find anything to help. After about 5 minutes of gaming on battery my cpu clocks down to 800mhz and performance turns console like. :( Any way to stop this? Throttlestop doesn't seem to work for it. Unless im doing something wrong on it.

@Atom80 It would be really really nice for a lot of us who prefer, to see bios overclocking be a thing. The software methods available really are convoluted and seem quite unstable. IE every time i reboot throttle stop it resets all of my settings.

@Atom80 Monday is here and i have this feeling that there won't be any need to wait in for delivery of the X5 V7! How can you guys have absolutely no idea when your product is going to arrive, it's nuts and makes me wonder what else is badly organised at your organisation. More annoyingly I gave an ultimatum that i would withdraw my pre-order, something i don't want to do but i'm getting fed up of bull! Please give us a realistic date that the product will arrive on our door steps so we can make properly informed decisions.

Remove any overclocks. Undervolt CPU and GPU. Accept slightly lower FPS.

And I asked for an overclockable BIOS for my X5V6 and was given a polite but definite, no.

Massive shame about the Bios, i would be much more comfortable tinkering in there than in software in all honesty seems safer.

So i don't seem to be able to undervolt the gpu and have got rid of TS in favour of XTU as i think the profile idea is quite good on that. However looking at XTU it seems to be thermally throttling ... at 40c ish.

0d9EGLs.png

I can foresee myself getting frustrated with this. I am not worried about a drop in frame rate, i mean i will happily take 60fps any day of the year whilst on the battery. But im getting 15fps at the moment and it's just not good.

As you can see in XTU i set my cpu to 3ghz and -0.15v (150mV) and it still throttles within 30 seconds with fans at 100%

I tried to reproduce this and couldn't. BUT XTU claimed it was thermal throttling at ~40°C as I removed the power lead and again when putting back in.

Whilst this is my first signup post, i hope this doesn't attract poor decorum on my question:

Do we have happen to know when the X7 DT-V7-CF2 Will ship to the UK?

I have to say i agree with other people on this forum; whilst browsing in other areas, the official Aorus communication has been poor. The only place I've been able to find any real information and/or actual Aorus reps are on this forum. Which is a great thing to see on a supplier forum, its just a shame this quality couldn't be applied to a manufactures forum.

If @Atom80 could provide some feedback on this topic that would be great.

Getting rid of ThrottleStop and going with Intel XTU was a bad idea. There is a setting in ThrottleStop called BD PROCHOT. Make sure that option is not checked.

BD PROCHOT stands for bi-directional processor hot. This allows other sensors on the motherboard to send a throttling signal directly to the CPU. This will force the CPU down to 800 MHz even when the CPU's temperature is just fine. When a sensor goes bad, you can end up with severe throttling for no reason at all.

Edit - It sounds like in your case, this is being used to protect the battery. Many gaming laptops are not designed to run the CPU and GPU at full speed while on battery power. High current draw can damage a battery.

If you do not know how to use TS then contact the author. He is always willing to help. :)

Thanks for that :),

Il uninstall xtu when I get home and put TS back on. Will undervolt again in the battery profile and drop clock a little. Thanks for pointing out that setting for me. Eager to test now :)

Hi unclewebb, great to see you on the OcUK forums. Do you have a thread here for questions about ThrottleStop?

Hi fooby,

Welcome to the OcUK forums, and specifically the AORUS lounge....

Thanks for you enquiry and feedback - we do feedback to HQ, and understand that the central AORUS forum has not been able to give good information recently - this is simply because they are not that close to our schedule information and are also conscious of making commitments at a country level, that may not be accurate, or change over time.

Anyway, you have found us here now, and we always endeavour to give as much information as possible - of course it's not perfect all the time.

Regarding your question on the X7 DT, they will be in production in the next couple of weeks, so we hope for an ETA to OcUK in July (mid-end).

Hope that helps and feel free to ask anything you think we can assist with.

Regards,

Team AORUS

Firstly thank you for such a quick response. Its nice to be able to have communication direct from the vendor on topics like this.

I can see what you say around global vs in-country communication, thank you for making that clear.

I shall hold tight onto my pre-order with anticipation :D

Having figured out whom Unclewebb is i think that would be a great idea :).

Anyway i got home this morning and removed XTU and put TS back on and played around with a few settings but sadly still no avail, after around 2 minutes in game my fps drops from firm 60 to 15-20.

Here are the settings i am using in TS

Below is what i believe TS is alerting me to be the cause of the throttle. " EDP OTHER "

Here are two videos of it happening in the witcher 3, one it was just being crazy before throttling and one after it was throttled.

Here is the log file throughout this period.

Sorry for the huge wall of text/rambling. as above i can get a little frustrated sometimes with these things. Especially when i am so used to desktop overclocking.

I will truely appreciate any more assistance in getting this system to be capable of running 60fps on battery.

Firstly thank you for such a quick response. Its nice to be able to have communication direct from the vendor on topics like this.

I can see what you say around global vs in-country communication, thank you for making that clear.

I shall hold tight onto my pre-order with anticipation :D

No problem, we aim to post accurate delivery information when its "firmer" to enable pre-orders to be placed.

Hi Atom,

Im new on the OCUK forum because I was looking for an active community around the Aorus laptops as the Official Aorus forum is dead with nobody to answer questions! I saw that you launched couples of X5 V7 sku's yesterday in the UK but I can't find any information at all about the launch in France of the X5 V7 (CF3) (yes I am living there ^^). May be, as you are working closely with the Aorus HQ, would you have some infos about that?

Many thanks in advance for your reply!

Bonjour!

So I assume you want French keyboard layout is that correct?

We will speak with France now, and find out if they will have our UK "CF3" spec, and who will be selling it. (For sure it will be LDLC)

Will post when have the information.

Hi Organ,

France is not on-line at the moment, but we have asked the question, we expect to get a reply from them tomorrow.

Hi atom80,

What about Switzerland or more realistically Germany?

I'm at the verge to order it. This may very well finalize my decision.

P.S. hello to everyone, this is also my first post but hopefully I'll be able to give feedback on the x5 v7 cf1 if I can proceed my purchase

I managed to grab the last x5 v7-cf1 that was available last night and will get it tomorrow so i am looking forward to trying it out :D

Grown bored of my 2012 Macbook pro so thought it was time for an upgrade.
