So here are my first thoughts about the x5 v7 after two days of use:
- Build quality seems good and solid. Almost no screen flex and hinge looks solid
- Really like the track-pad texture and the new yellowish logo looks awesome.
- Screen is bright enough and colors looks good.
- Performance is great and there's even some headroom in cooling capabilities for overclocking as long as you don't mind the fan noise
- Audio quality is really astonishing. Coming from rather low-end devices you definitely hear the difference.
And of course there are a few disappointments:
- quite a noticeable amount of ips glow in the top left corner. Hard to say if this is a defect or just the screen quality but I will definitely keep an eye on that while under warranty. I haven't decided yet if this is bothering enough for replacement or not.
- wifi is just as bad as on most other laptops. I would have expected a little bit better connectivity on a high-end machine with this "killer" chip. I might put an old intel receiver in there to see if it makes a difference.
- the keyboard is quite weird. Looks amazing but if you don't hit the middle of the key this "island" structure sometimes prevents you from pushing the key down. So you loose quite some letters

Still have to wait and see if I grow accustomed to it or not.
Overall I have a good feeling about this laptop as there is really nothing close on the market but it does not come without some serious flaws. I didn't put much effort into overclocking yet but those fans operate like jet engines at 100%. My max performance profile on XTU is conveniently called hair_dryer

Reached what looked like a stable 4.5GHz around 90°C before my other half asked me to stop the noise.
