APB Dead after less than 3 months

Was this free?

Or what happens to the people that have forked out money and paid for this game, surely they will be rather *annoyed* to say the least..
 
i've never seen sth like that happen so fast. "The end of an era" title is spot on but not for APB but for the MMO genre. the f2p era begins

I supposed it is like any other service where the company goes into administration. At best it will be "get in line behind the bigger creditors" at worst it will be "tough luck, read your T&C".

3 months is a pretty poor show though tbh.
 
I feel sorry for people who just bought the game a few days before.
They were wrong not to let us know how bad the game was doing, lied about patch being released today just to get as much money in their pockets before they had to close it.

It wasn't a horrible game at all, but then as per your signature I'm not going to argue :).

I feel sorry for the devs that were mislead by their bosses more than anything. The games fate has been sealed for a while now. If anybody was stupid enough to buy the game without doing a little research first then that's their problem.
 
they should have made it so you could play for free without buying trhe box and maybe it would have worked if it was like eve-online
 
baaah i only just resubbed for 30 days too!

Oh well i'll log on in a minute and give those pesky enforcers a last bit of ass kicking :)
 
They only just introduced a lot of features 2 weeks ago, namely graphical options (which they said they would have out by release, coined by many fanboys who love to say "the game's in beta, give it a chance!")

The game in my opinion was still beta quality, it was not ready at all, everything was shoddy, the match making system didn't work and it didn't work 2 weeks ago when they said they "fixed it". They cut out a lot from the game that was there a year and a half ago which in my opinion made it worse for the player.

What am I getting at? I think the game only really was retail quality 2 weeks ago, and that's how long it really lasted. I knew this game was ballsed up before it came out, I was always high critical of it in my comments here and elsewhere. It was released early clearly in attempt to stay afloat and hope micro transactions and buyable time would keep them going from going under.

On top of a [Ill say it again] cleary early release, the model went from Buy product, free to play to a Buy product and buy time to play + buy "RTW points", another idea to make them the money they so needed.

But it wasnt released to early, they've been working at it for over five years. The result is all they were able to come up with, they've made lesser games with more content in that time. They should have released it two years ago then they might've had a chance. They passed the point of success ages ago.

Its really dissapointing one of a few I was looking forward to, mildly unique, cops and robbers, action, failed to deliver in every area, except its customization.

The amount of gameplay I got out of it from paying £30 im more than happy with. Im happier with the purchase of APB than I was when I got Farcry 2 :)

It's just one of those things. I enjoyed playing APB when I played it, was a fun game to play.

£30 is nothing if you've hand some fun out of it, I spend 5x's as much when I go out clubbing...

I'm not overjoyed about it. But like any other game, once you play it enough its shelved and likely never played again. Just so happens this is an MMO thats been shutdown instead.

If I had bought this game in the last month I would be pretty ****** off :)
