APB Dead after less than 3 months

for anyone interested, you should be able to play for free atm if you've ever had an account, servers are still up. apparently EA stepped in to keep the servers running for a little longer, just played a little and there was GM's in game speaking to all the players and answering questions.

will be a shame to see it go, especially as it was getting a lot of good updates quite frequently. just needed a good polish, more content and more exposure really.

nah auto assault may have been "up" for that long but no-one was playing it after a week or two iirc!

Been reading a link to one of the senior developer's blog website. Shame that it all fell apart. The biggest fail was the company expanding too much, spending the $100M on teams to manage teams who failed to communicate with another team. Also, they tried to do everything inhouse from audio to motion capture, etc.
For a long time british development team, this is a shame that they failed.

this is a shame that they failed.

It is a shame but more a shame they brought on themselves. With the money that was invested it should have been something spectacular rather than the mismanaged buggy mess it ended up. From day one things were running on dreams rather than reality.

One of their staff got me looking forward to APB when he first got the offer to move there from where i work now, and to be quite frank i got excited enough to pee a little were i a girl and almost applied for a position myself. I followed it through early development, through the beta and into release, always with the hope that they would change direction but they never did.

It was going to change to more open world freedom à la GTA after the feedback during the play test sessions but by that point too much money had been spent already that they were forced to continue with the line they'd started down. I just wish they didn't have to succumb to the money people who at the end of the day have no clue what the gamers really want.
