Apocolypse Now... I just dont get it.

Being based on a very short novel, it just seems to lose its point.

It's still almost 200 pages long. 200 pages can easily contain enough material for a 3 hour film. Also note the word you used: 'based'.

The Shawshank Redemption was a novella of only about 100 pages.

The Deer Hunter was brilliant - but then I dont think many appreciated that film for what it really was either

i rate deer hunter and apocalypse now equally, deer hunter is underrated and apocalypse now is overrated.

come and see is my favourite war film though.

The film has some truths to it, whats it says or the hidden message in the flim can be adopted to any wars new or old.

its like a drug induced ramble through nam which happens to have a few overblown egos fighting for star scenes in the film .

it does have the set pieces which are memorable but its not the best or right up there for me. trys to hard to be art.

I like watching Redux after 5 or 6 stellas, you kind of zone in and out with the film
