Ditching my laptop for a desktop as I don't currently need the portability and the power will be fun.

I've come up with this so far, taking advantage of a couple of this week only offers:

Can I do any better for £700? I have a cpu cooler and DVD drive already + an external HD, monitor etc.

On reflection I think I will go for a 160gb drive, I feel like trying a Western Digital for some reason, unless there's a real difference with the Seagate?

That memory has lower timings but also only clocked at 667mhz, so it will easily overclock then?

The Crucial 6400 offers absolutely nothing over the 5300, unless your not planning to overclock. But since you are save some money and get the 5300 it will clock very easily.

Sounds good :) Thanks for the advice, I think I will go for that Seagate actually, it has a lot of good reviews and I've used them before. I'm sure the extra space will come in handy too.

So now I'm looking at:

Should handle everything very nicely :)

At that price they'd better be good boards! Outside of my range unfortunately!

Check the web for reviews to compare them if I were you. :)

I'm not sure if its just the 680chipset or not, but you can run the ram/cpu fsb unsynced on these fine.

has to be the evga.

The other one is beset with problems ;)
