**** Apple Event "Spring loaded" - 20th April 2021 @ 18:00 UK time ****

I doubt you’ll see refreshes of the air, the only risk on the pro is if they introduce a model above the M1 version to replace the intel ones. That will be at a higher price point though.

I doubt there will be a 14” version next week otherwise we would have seen component leaks already.

We’ve apparently seen the next iPhone screen already, I’ve not really seen much relating to macs and iPads other than refreshes.

Something to replace my Air 2, can’t believe how long it’s lasted!!! Maybe a new mini if it’s been refreshed with a larger screen.

Half looking at the iPad Pro but already thought the existing screen was great for working (the S7+ OLED is awesome for media though!) - 5G would be handy though; I was hoping they might move the front facing camera so its on the top in horizontal (i.e work mode) rather than "phone" like leaving it on the top in portrait mode.
I'd probably be more tempted if the rumoured Thunderbolt 4 support also means finally getting full and proper external monitor/desktop mode support.

Its expensive but the iPad Pro is just about the only device that can I can do all my work stuff on (with a very limited amount of RDP into Windows if needed) and all my personal stuff like Photo Editing, Reading the paper, Art, etc and it lasts all day.

What about a MacBook Air with M1? I can't stand doing any work on an iPad due to the lack of keyboard. I know you can get cases with keyboards but I still don't like the UI for productivity.

To be honest I'm not a huge MacOS fan although since the M1 chips where launched I have been sorely tempted to try one!

Fair enough. It's probably the best bit of tech I've bought in a long, long time. I absolutely love mine and I find myself using it more and more as time goes on. It's fast, silent, cool and the battery life is stupidly good. The only downside is that there are still some apps running on Intel architecture however with that said with Rosetta 2 you don't really notice that much.

Good to know! Battery life still sucks on Windows Intel devices or I'd just have a Surface Pro really; not an Apple user at all any more (Android Phone, Android Watch) but I do love using the iPad Pro!

Linus benchmarked the Apple M1 running Windows on ARM in a VM and it beat the Surface Pro Arm thing quite convincingly.

How does this work? Do these ARM devices have an emulation layer to allow the x86 code to run? Actually saying that I remember Apple stating that most legacy applications will run on the M1.
