Apple have released iOS 8.4 to public. This can be obtained OTA right now.

You aren't charged until the end of the trial. And have to cancel 24 hours before the end. It says twice before you are signed up so not sure how it's not clear

Wanted to try Apple Music but am I right in saying I need to install iTunes for a desktop experience? IE there's no browser version like Spotify/GMusic?

Apple Music is brilliant. So many interact playlists and it works very well. The entire iTunes library available right on your device.

Not quite, there is a lot missing.
The Beatles for a start which was a bit of a dissapointment given Apple have the exclusive for digital downloads for them.

On OSX, I updated to 10.10.4 and then iTunes update 12.2 appeared as available to download - which is basically Apple Music.

itunes 12.2 for mac and pc just been released by Apple. It includes beats read and Apple music.
