Apple online store down.

Yes, no matter how many years I keep it, the difference between 1 week and 5 months is a long time. If I knew a price drop was happening next week I'd wait, if I knew it was happening in 5 months I wouldn't bother. Hard to understand?
When did this discussion become about waiting? It was about resenting something (should the price dropped a week after you bought). Life is too short.

Hard to understand?

PS: Store is back up

Apple users tend to get in a "tizz" (not trying to offend anyone here :p ) about product upgrades because the product lines are SO defined it makes it very obvious that this week you paid £XXXX for this product but could've paid £YYYY a week later.

Example: US iPhone

Launch, $600, EVERY person who bought one clearly thought it was worth it. Or at least should've.
A couple of months later, $400, EVERY person who bought one was up in arms about the price change.

Okay, so Apple did kinda screw those loyal early adopters (with an apology of a $100 Apple Store voucher) but they still went in purchasing a device they thought was worth it.

Apple buying tip 1: Apple are a company - don't treat them as your friend
Apple buying tip 2: Always wait until the second update of a product (eg. don't get an Alu MacBook until they next update the specs)
Apple buying tip 3: If you want your product to be "new" for the longest - get it as soon as it comes out!

Woahhhh slow down there. That is far too much common sense and rationale in one post... for the average Apple buyer.

I find it hard to understand, how you're finding it hard to understand someone being disappointed at a saving of a few hundred pounds (potentially). Life is full of disappointments.

Indeed, and life is full of price drops - especially in technology, which outpaces fashion, cars, etc. So lets get on with it, enjoy your goods - they were clearly worth the money to you when you bought them.

See tip 3. It was the persons choice to buy then. Most people who are aware that Apple have just updated their product line are the same people who know how Apple release products. They didn't hold a gun to your head and say "YOU MUST PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT NOW!".

Self control and logic apply to purchasing Apple products. Just like every other product.

It's only partially back up - The refurb store is only half there, if you click on any items within it then the "we're updating" message appears.

There are current gen 8Gb nano's showing for £89. The main part of the store isn't up either so I can't check what they are going for but I'm sure that when my daughter got hers that it was around £110ish.

Exactly. Components change in price weekly (memory, hard drives, screens, processors). Apple can't or don't want to adjust weekly, so they adjust prices (the right way, all the time) every 5-6 months. (Apart from in the case of the iPhone, where they clearly [and rightly] wanted to make money from the idiots who parted with $600 for it).

No one was calling for an exodus of Apple, Concorde just said he'd be disappointed if there was a price drop seeing as he'd just purchased his Mac. Which I think is a reasonable feeling. If I purchased anything and then found out I could have made a saving a week later I'd be disappointed.

All I was saying is that if you want to enjoy your product as being the newest (or not want to have the price lowered) - like I myself would want actually - then a little logic when buying is your key ;)

Most likely bank holiday maintenance I'd have thought. One time I want to check the store and it's down :p

Anyone know if Apple stores carry stock to take away on the day? eg...can I walk into the Apple store in Plymouth (just a reseller though afaik) with a shiny new mbp?

What a stupid attitude. The product was worth X to you when you bought it. If the price drops, why has the value of that product (to you) changed? Prices drop all the time.

Im afraid if you read the apple forums you would see im having issues with my MP STILL after a month.

So I think if there was one, i'd be MORE than entitled to sent it back and either spend less or get a free upgrade seeing as what I paid for isn't want im getting.

I wouldn't argue the toss otherwise.

So long as it's a standard configuration, yes :)

Didn't you see these complaints before you bought it?
