We seem to be digressing, but I disagree. On the flights ive been on you are instructed to turn off all electronics for take off and landing and to ensure that flight mode is enabled before you switch them off

The last few flights I was on, told to turn them off and no electronic devices to be used, even when in flight. Everyone had different devices and flight stewards didn't say a word.
