Apple 'Spring Forward' Event 09/03/2015

All the links I canfind for the adapter suggest that its limited to 1080p. I know that HDMI can support 1440p at 50hz on my monitor. Anyone know if the type c connector will support resolutions of higher than 1080p?
 
The problem with one port is what happens when you want to transfer from drive to drive. This means files/folders have to be copied to the system first then copied over to other drive.

Apple really should have added a proper second usb port to be fair.
 
Havent really been been keeping up to date on the thread but I like the 12".

The major problem will be the power brick and plug. Such a old bulky design that needs a refresh; but that isn't Apple's territory.

If there is a USB way of powering the 12" that would be perfect.
 
One of the major points of the USB-C port for power is that you will be able to use 3rd party accessories to charge it, much like there are 3rd party charging solutions for iOS devices, so no, you won't need to carry a brick around.

Perhaps I was mistaken, but my understanding was apple are using the usb slot, the single slot for charging, you plug the power lead directly into the usb port do you not?
Thus tying up the port, unless you spend £80 on an adapter?

Just been doing a bit of reading to cure my ignorance of USB-C. Sounds very promising and likely to be my next laptop, in all seriousness and I said id never go lower than a 15".

Recent benchmarks of the Core M aren't looking too shabby, actually. Seems like the initial reviews of the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro were in some way broken....

Device is getting more and more appealing to me. The single port actually makes things easier for me when I get home, as rather than plugging in 4 cables, I can just plug one adaptor in....

I wonder what performance will be like when it's attached to a 24"/27" screen?

I see what you mean though, leave the adapter at home attached to your HDMI/USB/Charge cables.

If it can drive the Retina display it will be fine for the resolution of the monitors most people use at 24/27". Of the Mac owners I've seen with 4K monitors, 99% are using MBP's or Mac Pros and have a reason beyond 'it looks cool' for owning such a display and need the power of the Pro.

Typing my first ocuk post from my new macbook pro 13" :D.

Just a quick one; iMessage on my mac hasn't downloaded all my old sms and iMessages stored on my iPhone, it's only showing messages received since I bought the laptop. Is this normal? Preferably I wanted all my messages and conversations synced across!

I think its less of looking cool and more of it being a huge step down. If you have any retina display laptop (windows, OSX, whatever) and you drag some file with text too a normal monitor it looks horrible. Your laptop will have lovely rendered text, images etc etc, and your main display looks bad, its a horrible experience.

I think we really need to move to retina monitors everywhere, very quickly.
 
We do and it will come in time, but the reality is the majority of the public (and the MacBooks target audience) aren't using 4K monitors, many don't use external monitors at all, and Apple needs to wait for at least TB3 for a connection with the kind of throughput that can run the Thunderbolt Display at double the current res/Retina 5K iMac res.

That's correct operation. Messages on Mac will only display messages from when you signed in on your new Mac with your Apple ID/ iCloud account.
