Aqua Computer Aquaero Owners thread

I went pretty much the same as JayGee but I also have one in another build that's in a 5-1/4” bay...when those were still a thing.

I split mine - because I seem to like making life difficult for myself:

Split Aquaero

Not sure I'd recommend it as it does seem to make the buttons a bit unreliable - the rest works fine though and it's an unusual way of doing it. It you have the space - I didn't as there are pumps in the way - you could mount the whole unit this way without splitting it.

@Squidward @JayGee Damn guys, you've gone and given me "The Itch"! Just caught myself with no less than 9 OCUK tabs open already! Gah! It's an illness I tell you!:D

Nice to have a bit of space like that to build in. Last build I did the case claimed to have room in the roof for a 240. Technically this was true....provided you didn't also want a motherboard in the case! With my history of cases inappropriate for water-cooling, it's novel to see one with the rads on the inside! :D

Hi. Will the Aqua OCTO be able to sustain powerwise

10 NB eloop 120mm fans = 3 fans on 3 way pwm splitter to 1 output - 3 fans on 3 way pwm splitter to 1 output - 4 fans on 4 way pwm splitter to 1 output
7 EK X3M DRGB 120mm = 3 fans on 3 way pwm splitter to 1 output - 4 fans on 4 way pwm splitter to 1 output

the blurb says OCTO can handle 25 watts per 1 channel.

It's a max of 25w on a channel and 95w across all eight combined.

I have the OCTO and it is coping extremely well with 6 x Corsair ML120 split over 3 channels and 11 x Corsair ML140 split over 4 channels.

Certainly the most accomplished and easy to use fan controller I've ever had.

You can also get an aquabus splitter that fits onto the Aquaero, gives 3 ports. I used it to link in my D5 Next and a Quadro. It's pretty easy to start spending silly money kitting out an Aquaero system but it all just works. A Quadro here, a splitty there, maybe a flow meter then something RGB related next thing you know your fan / water / light controlling system costs as much as a CPU :)

So you don't have more than 3 fans per channel. But 4 seems ok. i have no idea about electrics and the mannual for the eloop fans is in German I think each fan may be 1.2 watts so seems like plenty of headroom.

Yeah it seems everyone raves about the acquero stuff, ths software seems pretty good. THat Singularity custom loop guy raves about it too, he mentioned that setting your fans to respond to the water temp rather than cpu/gpu is good, i like that as well.

4 per channel would be fine.

I've just grouped mine that way for easy reference. The three push fans on my 420 rad are on channel 1 and the three pull fans channel 2.

Right cool, I'll get an OCTO. Not sure about what I need for RGB though.

I will have 7 DRGB fans, DRGB monoblock, res, pump top, rear distro plate. Will that fabwerk cope with all that? Can you daisy chain RGB the blurb is talking about amps I have no idea?

I had an issue with my Octo that it became unuseable after a firmware update and had to go back to my old Aquaero 6xt.
Not tried to see if it’s solvable as my back up machine has been unusable due to it being COVID bound but will try it later as it was/is a lovely bit of kit

OCTO has two RGBpx channels. Each channel can control 90 LEDs. You can get an adaptor to attach your DRGB to the OCTO.

So I could put 7 fans on one RGBpx channel and the other 5 devices on the other.?

If I wanted 4 of the 5 DRB devices (monoblock, res, etc) to be able to be controllable individually instead of all joined up via a splitter to one of the px channels on the octo, could i use the fabwerk 360 and to have 4 seperate channels and connect that to the OCTO?

Sounds feasible Kenny although I have no experience of the Fabwerk.

Does anyone have the D5 NEXT pump? I am looking to get this rather than an EK D5 but can I mount it toa vertical 120mm fan with the supplied bracket? If not will it fit to the EK mount? This will be a secondary pump for my build so it will not have a res attached.

I think you need an extra 120mm mount but it does mount vertically as that's how I've set it up. If you are hunting for it I think you need to look for "Aquacomputer fan bracket 120 mm for ULTITUBE" which is the mount for the D5 Next.
